Chapter 4

Ponyboy Curtis POV

Dally found out. Johnny and I were with him and he saw the way we looked at each other and I guess he put two and two together and he figured it out. He didn't care, I didn't think he would, and he won't tell anyone if you ask him not to, he can keep a secret, anything he won't tell a soul. The only person I don't want finding out is Darry. I feel like he would hate me more than he already does. I don't want that.

Johnny and I hang around with Dally during the day when we don't have school, I ain't the biggest fan of Dally but Johnny idolizes him, Johnny is the only think Dally loves in life. He keeps us busy other than being stuck at home all day with nothing to do. It wasn't one of those days though, Johnny and I had to sit up at the Gasoline station while Soda and Steve worked, it wasn't bad, Johnny and I just talked, messed around a bit, gave Soda and Steve a hard time and we walked back home after Soda and Steve's shift. We sat around the house for a bit, me and Johnny, sharing small kisses every so often, Soda looking at us and smiling. We had to wait for Darry to get back from where he was, probably just running errands, he left a note saying he'd be back soon but it's Darry he'll probably stay out for a little while. No one mined, he needed his alone time, everyone does.
We waited patiently, Soda, Johnny and I just having small conversations. Johnny was laying on my chest, it was different,not a bad different, I enjoyed how close Johnny got to me, it was nice in a way.

Darry came home around six pm and soon after Darry made me and Soda go to bed, but Darry went and slept with Soda since he let Johnny stay over.

After the lights were out we sat in silence for a little bit.

"Pony?"Johnny said looking up at me.

"Hm?" I hummed in response, looking down at him, the subtle glow of the street lamps coming through the window shining down on his soft features.

"What are we going to do?"He asked clinging onto my shirt.

"About what?"I asked, holding him closer.

"Are we going to tell the rests of the guys?"Johnny asked. I don't know if I want to, and risk Darry finding out. I don't want to hide it but I don't want him to know.

"Not Darry, we can't tell Darry."I said panicking a bit.

"Why not?" Johnny asked, playing with the tuffs of my hair behind my neck.

"He'll hate me more than he already does, and I don't want that." I said, getting a little heated about it.

"He won't hate you Pony."Johnny said.

"I bet he won't be too happy, Dad wouldn't be happy with me, I know Darry wouldn't either."I explained. I know that dad would be upset with me, so would mom, but not as much. I'm happy with Johnny, he may not see it, I really don't treat him like he treats me, but I'm happy and I enjoy being with him.

"To hell with, what's he thinks." Johnny said, a little louder than he should have.

"He's my brother, him and Soda are all I have now, Johnny."I felt like I could just bawl, I hated the idea of Darry hating me more.

"I'm sorry."Johnny said yawing.

"It's alright."I said kissing Johnnys head, as he fell asleep, I could never really sleep at night but having Johnny next to me has helped a lot"Goodnight JohnnyCake."I said quietly.

We all sat at the small local diner, Darry, Soda, and Steve sat across from Johnny, Two-bit and I sat, Dally of course took a chair from one of the neighboring tables.
Johnny and I held hands under the table, Johnny ain't ever been a guy who likes going out, in closed public places anyways.

"How are you two?"Dally cut me out of my thoughts.

"What?"I asked, confused on what he meant.

"How's School?"Dally asked.

"It alright."I said shrugging a bit.

"How about you JohnnyCake?".

"Eh."He said bluntly. I knew he wasn't doing to good and I offered to help but he declined half the time.

"Alright."Dally said leaning back in his chair, you could tell he was getting bored.
Johnny leaned on my shoulder and sighed.

"You okay?"I asked him, putting my hand on his knee. He hummed and put his hand over mine, how Two-bit didn't see, is my question.

"Someone come with me."Dally said, getting up out of the chair and standing up.

"Where?"Soda asked.

"Outside, I'm bored".Dally exclaimed, waiting for someone to come with him, no one got up."Johnny, come on."Darry said, Johnny jumped up and moved pass Two-bit, following Dally outside.

"Man, JohnnyCake does anything that man tell him to do."Soda said messing with his hands.

"He sure does." I sighed and looked out the window, All you could see was Dally taking and Johnny just listening, I caught his eye contact through the window and he smiled at me.

Man Johnny sure did have a great face, he was a great guy too, I might not what to admit it but I think I'm falling in love with Johnny.
