The Doctor paced the console room of the TARDIS, trying to ignore the emotions running amok in her head. When Yaz hugged her, she felt, well - "Library!" she exclaimed aloud as she remembered her original plan. The TARDIS beeped in protest, to which the Doctor groaned. "I'm not ignoring anything, I'm staying focused."

Once again, the Doctor headed to the library, making it to her intended destination this time. "You've rearranged," she complained to the TARDIS, searching for her favorite chair. A few minutes passed before she shouted "Found it!" triumphantly. She was about to reach for her favorite comic when she noticed that there was already a book sitting propped open upside down on the table next to her.

A confused look crossed her face as she plopped into the giant forest green bean bag and grabbed the book, careful not to lose the spot it had been stopped at. She found herself smiling as she realized it was one of her favorite romances. Whoever had been reading it had stopped just before the best part, just before - just before the main character confesses her crush to her closest friend. Into the Doctor's mind popped the image of Yaz.

Emotions began to rise within the Doctor as she remembered what came next. The story ended happily, of course, she hated books with sad endings and refused to own any. But real life isn't the same as a novel. In real life, there are more risks. Risks of losing a friend, risks of your brain tricking you. The Doctor was scared that Yaz didn't actually like her, the way she hoped she did. The fear of rejection had been stopping the Doctor from admitting to herself that she did like Yaz, she really liked her.

The Doctor groaned, embarrassed by herself, and forced her mind to switch topics, heading towards the comic section instead. Picking the first book she saw, she sat back down and began to read, trying to convince herself to focus on something else, anything else.

The sky changed to a cloudy gray as Yaz and Sonya were walking back from lunch. They were about to pass the TARDIS as Yaz remembered, "I forgot to pack a toothbrush!"

Sonya groaned. "Always missing something, aren't you Yaz? I'm going upstairs," she didn't want to wait for her sister.

Yaz waited a moment for Sonya to enter the apartment building before slipping into the TARDIS, half hoping she would run into the Doctor on her way. Her posture slumped in disappointment as she scanned the console room, no Doctor to be seen. She grabbed her toiletry bag, carelessly forgotten on her bed, then headed back into the hall.

"Doctor?" she called, in a last attempt to see her. No response. As she stepped back into the cool air of the console room, she remembered the Doctor mentioning she would be reading while they were gone. It couldn't hurt to check, she convinced herself as she turned back. She knew the library well, and it didn't take her more than a minute to get there.

"Doctor?" Yaz cried out as she entered the library, hearing nothing in response. As she rounded a corner of shelves, she quickly lowered her voice, realizing that the Doctor was asleep. A surprised look crossed Yaz's face, she hadn't ever seen the Doctor sleeping before. Often she and Dan wondered if she did sleep at all.

Yaz approached the Doctor hesitantly  and before she could doubt herself, placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Doctor?" she whispered. The Doctor woke with a start, a look of panic crossing her face as she jumped up.

"Hey hey, it's just me," Yaz hurriedly said, placing both hands on the Doctor's shoulders. She felt the Doctor sigh and pull her into a hug. Yaz was shocked but hugged the Doctor back for a few seconds before awkwardly backing up.

"Yaz, what are you doing back?" a look of confusion formed on the Doctor's face. "It's not noon already is it?" she wondered aloud. She could feel her cheeks begin to heat, equally embarrassed by her reaction to being woken, and the amount of time she had slept.

"Only been a few hours, I was just stopping by coz I forgot this," she gestured sheepishly towards the bag she was holding. She paused, looking into the Doctor's eyes for perhaps a little too long, before asking, "I was wondering if you wanted to come for tea at my place? I dread being home alone with my family, having a friend there with me would be so great." It was a lame excuse, but an honest one at least.

"Sounds lovely!" replied the Doctor, "I love tea, tea's the best!" she ended her sentence awkwardly, but with a large smile on her face. Her mood instantly lightened at the thought of spending time with Yaz.

"Great!" Yaz waited for the Doctor to return her book to the shelves, and they headed out together.
