"So how's the move going then?" Alexa questioned as she dotted around the bakery kitchen, making more mess than creations at the moment, as she watched as Jack packed boxes on FaceTime."It's not going great if I'm honest" Jack chuckled, as he began to tape up one of the boxes, and then fall into a huff on the sofa.
"It'll be worth it in the end" Alexa smiled, as she stopped measuring the flour and moved onto the sugar. "Ya don't need sugar love, ya sweet enough" Jack smirked, as he picked his phone up and held it closer to his face, allowing Alexa to see how tired he really looked.
"Jack, this isn't the time to make jokes" Alexa smiled, but Jack knew there was more to it, although she had seen the tired look in his eyes, he could see the building stress in hers.
"How are ya doing though doll?" Jack questioned, as Alexa let out a small sigh, some flour from her cheek, or her chin falling from her face at the same time. "It's been quite quick this week, you know, same old" Alexa smiled, but she was tired.
Alexa had stayed up most nights talking to Jack, the FaceTime calls and the phone calls all rolling into one, the stress that she knew she really was alone now setting in, not to mention that Jack was finally moving to Manchester, and England camp was a long way around the next corner.
"Maybe ya should get some sleep then doll" Jack stated, knocking Alexa out of her trail of thoughts as her eyes rested on the brown orbs looking at her through her phone screen. "I won't be long" Alexa smiled, as Jack shook his head. "I'm not asking ya, I'm telling ya, ya need sleep Lexi" Jack stated, his voice was firm, but it sounded soft, almost as if it was just a warning.
"Okay, okay, I'll have a shower and then get into bed" Alexa smiled, she was easily won over by him, he could tell her to jump from a plane without a a parachute and she would, in a heartbeat, no second thoughts.
"As much as I would love to stick around and watch that unfold, I need to kip myself" Jack mumbled, as Alexa nodded her head. "They'll be other times Jack" Alexa smiled, as he smirked at her, nodding his head.
"A week, not like I'm counting" Jack smiled, as Alexa smiled back at him, a big grin, one he loved to see on her face. "I love ya Lex" Jack smiled, as Alexa felt her heart skip a beat, she didn't know how she got so lucky, but she would forever be thankful.
"I love you too Jack" Alexa smiled, as he grinned at her. "Now sleep doll, ya ain't any use to me or the bakery if ya are asleep all day" Jack teased as Alexa smiled at him. "Night babe" Alexa smiled, as Jack blew a kiss at the screen, Alexa catching it before she the call ended and Alexa was left with her thoughts once more in the kitchen.
But she didn't feel lonely, she didn't feel sad or scared, she felt content with life, like the stay at St George's everything she needed when she didn't know what she was looking for.
But as Alexa looked at the photos that surrounded her from the days that lead up to her opening the bakery, the moments and memories she wouldn't ever want to forget or change, she knew the hardest part was to come, she knew the real test was hers and Jacks relationship now, knowing that they'd be miles apart.
Alexa looked down to her phone that was ringing, seeing her brothers name flash across the screen, as she smiled to herself, accepting the FaceTime call, to see Bens face appear across the screen.
"Little Lexi" Bens voice called, as she rolled her eyes. "Mr Chilwell to what do I owe the pleasure?" Alexa laughed, as she chose to lean against the counter, resting her head in one hand as she held the phone in her other, wiping away an evidence of flour on her face.
"Wellll, I was just enquiring if you have any of them nice cakes to hand?" Ben smiled, as she took in his surroundings, realising that he was local and she recognised some of the background.
"Are you in Burton by any chance? But that doesn't explain why you have Masons phone" Alexa questioned, but realised she must of sounded mad knowing that they had training today at Cobham.
"We took a detour home" Masons voice spoke and Ben turned the phone to show Mason walking next to him, the sign for a pub not so far behind them."Burton is a long way from Cobham" Alexa sighed, as Ben nodded his head. "But no one beats your cakes Lexa" Ben smiled, as the door to the shop chimed, indicating someone had walked in, as Alexa looked up with a smile on her face.
"I've missed you so much" Alexa breathed, as she ran at her brother, engulfing him in a hug. "Hey, it's only been a couple of weeks" Mason chuckled, as his arms wrapped around his sister holding her closer then he needed to, but he didn't really know what he was walking into at the moment.
It was the first time she had been left alone in months, and he didn't know whether the would of caved and hit the bottle all over again, it wasn't an addiction, it was a disease, and it was something he wondered if she would ever be able to fight alone.
"I'm okay Mase, I'm really okay" Alexa smiled, as Ben took a turn to hug the Mount sibling. "I've missed you Lex" Ben smiled, as he dug his head into her neck, it was still no secret that Ben had the biggest crush on the sibling, despite all the wrong doings she had made in the past.
"So, cakes?" Alexa smiled, as Mason nodded his head laughing. "Cakes" Mason smiled.
