"It's just moving in for a bit Lex, it's not like I'm asking you to stay forever" Mason chuckled, trying to lighten the situation, but as Alexa looked at Ben and back to her brother, she didn't she light in the situation."I'm not moving away from where I am Mason, what part of that dont you get?" Alexa muttered, as she ran a hand through her hair and then rested her hands on her hips, Mason groaning at the thought of her calling him Mason, it was always Mase, never Mason.
"You can't just be alone!" Mason stated, as he threw his hands in the air, and Alexa shook her head at his reaction. "You we're perfectly happy for me to be alone when it suited you" Alexa muttered, as she turned on her heels and began to head to the door.
"You don't get it do you" Alexa stated, turning to face her brother and his friend once more. "You don't get what it's like to be so happy and have it gone in another heartbeat" Alexa continued, shaking her head at the floor. "I watched someone I love have to go, it wasn't there time to go, but I had to deal with it, I had to fall apart and put myself back together, alone" Alexa stated as she looked at Bens blue eyes, they showed concern, they always did, but he knew deep down that it was directed at him and the comments he had made previously.
"I had to learn to live without someone, each relapse, each time I felt alone, I had to deal with it, until you was the last resort, until Mum and Dad had, had enough of it, and they did what they do best, got rid of me" Alexa stated, letting out a shaken breath.
"I loved Jack, maybe I didn't love him completely, maybe I really just loved the feeling that he gave me, maybe I just loved that he didn't bubble wrap me, that he left me live" Alexa breathed, as she let the tears overflow in her eyes.
"Maybe i put all my eggs in his basket too soon, maybe I was stupid, but I was never alone, even when I was in Derbyshire, I was never alone, I had the bakery, I had friends, I had a make your own family" Alexa smiled.
"You don't get to take that away from me" Alexa stated, her voice calm, but her stance strong. "You don't get to act like your the perfect big brother, you don't get to pretend like this is your life, because it isn't, it's mine" Alexa muttered, as she opened the door and walked down the hallway, hearing the hushed voices in the passing rooms, knowing that the team had probably heard the argument, and if they didn't hear it the first time, she knew they'd all know about it by the time team dinner rolled around.
"Hey, hey, where ya running to?" Jack whispered, as his arms caught Alexa, who was hurrying down the hallway, tears filling her eyes, and she didn't see where she had walked, until she had walked into Jack.
"I just need some air" Alexa muttered, as she tried to pull herself out of his arms, but she knew deep down she didn't want to pull herself from them.
"Then let's go" Jack stated, as he wrapped an arm around Alexa shoulders, and let her huddle herself into his side like they used to do to escape the world, and it turns out that Jack clearly had the right place for that.
After walking up what felt like hundreds of stairs, Jack and Alexa finally made it to the roof top terrace.
"Wow" Alexa breathed, as she felt the chill of the evening air around her, making her shudder slightly, but the view was extraordinary, something she hadn't seen before, something that seemed so beautiful and quiet, it was calming."It is pretty right" Jack smiled, as he draped his jacket around her shoulders, trying to keep her warm to some extent, he knew she wouldn't leave here for a while now, but that didn't mean he was okay with her getting hypothermia, or even coming down with a common cold, he needed to keep her safe, protect her in every-way he could.
"Do you ever just wish everything would stop?" Alexa whispered, as she held her hands on the rail, the same way she had done the night Jack first spoke to her, the night they both took a chance on each other.
"As in?" Jack questioned, as he leant against the railing with her, trying to be comforting, but he wasn't sure he was all as comforting as he used to be, but as Alexa edged closer to him, a small smile fell on his face and he felt the happiest he had been in a while.
"Just like everything goes still, like at night when it's just quiet and still, ya get me?" Alexa stated, as Jack chuckled at her wording, a phrase he used more times a day then he was sure he had hot meals in a week, the smile mirroring on Alexa's face as she realised what she said.
"I do get ya" Jack smiled, as Alexa nodded her head, going quite slightly, her own thoughts surrounding her mind. "Do you regret it?" Alexa whispered, as Jack nodded his head. "Yes, all the time" Jack replied.
He didn't need to think about what her question meant, he knew, he knew it was aimed at what he had done, he didn't need to think twice about it, his answer was the honest truth, and part of him wished he could go back in time, but he knew he couldn't do that, he was just a hundred million football player, not a time traveller.
"I regret it too" Alexa stated. "I regret not hearing you out, I regret not being the adult" Alexa smiled sympathetically, as Jack shook his head, but before he could say anything, Alexa held her hand up.
"Can I stay in your room tonight?" Alexa questioned, as Jack felt his heart skip a beat, and the butterflies that he had started to miss more than anything filled his stomach."Of course ya can doll" Jack smiled.
