" We thought you had died."

It had been around four hours since I had been awake, surrounded by the nine Hybrids that attended the welcome home party, and it was safe to say that none of them had gotten past the initial shock of my accident as tears still splashed down their skin, leaving me to wipe them away gently. With each tear I could only feel guilty, I should have told them where I was going or at least answered their phone calls, if I had died they never would have known how happy they made me, how much I loved them.

" I'm alright now, Kookie." I brushed his hair through my fingers, his eyes peering up at me in shock, his mouth slightly agape.

"Kookie?" His voice wavered slightly, a new brim of tears lining his eyes. I mentally cursed, I didn't mean to call him that, it was just a slip of the tongue.

" I'm sor-" He cut me off with a smile, nudging his head further into my hand with a soft giggle, his eyes squinted in what I could assume was happiness earning a soft collective sigh from his five friends.

I took that opportunity to analyze them, they looked a mess, with dark bags under their eyes, splayed hair, and ruffled clothes. Even IU, I had never seen that girl outside of perfection, but here she was a blubbering mess as she used the back of her hand to wipe at her nose. If I died, what would have happened to them, would they have ended up on the streets? Would they end up in a facility like that one?

" I'm sorry I ruined your welcome home party, it was just supposed to be a day where you could be free." I sighed, peering down at Jungkook who gazed back up at me softly. " I was supposed to give you a home that you didn't have to fight for, I didn't even give you your presents."

I sniffled, a chuckle gargling in my chest as the floodgates opened. It had only occurred to me whilst I spoke that I simply wasn't fit to keep my hybrids, I wasn't around a lot of the time due to work, they look after me a lot more than I have done for them in the last month. I couldn't even cater to their basic needs in time. Even when it was just me and Yoongi I couldn't protect him. A sob escaped my lips as I rested my spare hand against my forehead. In this state, I could barely feel Yoongi trying to provide comfort through the pheromones in the air.

"We don't care about presents," Namjoon spoke up, placing a hand on my shoulder, his thumb gently caressing the hospital gown I was wearing. A small 'Yeah' echoed from the side of the younger hybrids. Namjoon sighed, the small stutter not going unnoticed as he continued. " We just want you, you are our home."

I could hear Yoongi growl slightly, causing me to chuckle as my body racked another wave of sobs. I blinked, the tears barely fading as I gazed up at Namjoon. He bit his bottom lip, eyes darting anywhere in the room other than me, his cheeks seem to darken into a crimson. The boy wasn't used to showing such emotion, that much was obvious and I couldn't help but think of how adorable he was, the dimples in his cheeks indenting.

" All we need is you, all seven of us." Jimin's hand found it's way to my cold one, cupping it gently. I squinted, trying to block another set of tears that threatened to fall, only to see them all nod in confirmation, even Yoongi - though he seemed to be much more hesitant.

The warmth that cascaded through my chest was immeasurable, my lips slightly twisting into a smile as SeokJin ruffled my hair. I loved these guys more than I could imagine, and whilst there was something different clouding them I couldn't help but feel that longing I had as a kid. The longing for a family, longing for love.

My gaze found Yoongi's, a tight etched smile on his face. His posture seemed off, but his eyes screamed reassurance. Yoongi knew me better than anyone, he was protective and possessive. I could only imagine what happened to act so differently.

" When I get home I'm going to make you all the biggest feast you've ever had." The tears had stopped now, the only thing being the droning of static in my ears as they erupted into a set of cheers, Taehyung and Jungkook fist bumping before knocking Jimin of his chair.

" Alright boys, you know what time it is." A knock on the door silenced their celebration, their gleeful smiles contorting into a melancholic frown as the door swung open. The same old nurse waddling in with a tray of food.

The boys groaned, not bothering to argue with the woman as they dragged themselves out, each of them promising to be back as soon as they were allowed. The old woman, I could tell, was quite fascinated with the fiasco, her eyes darting between them all before gently slamming the door behind them.

The silence was deafening from what I had endured for the last four hours, the pin dropping in the room become slightly unbearable before the nurse came over to the side of my bed.

" Excuse me Nurse." I spoke up softly, trying not to startle or make any gesture that would startle the old woman.

With a glance she sighed, placing the plate across my lap. " Yes Miss Min?"

" You're just like me aren't you?" I watched as she shifted uncomfortably, a loud exhale escaping her chest as she scanned me up and down.

" Yes I am Miss Min." Even through the coldness of her tone she remained professional, picking up my charts at the end of the bed. She was trying to avoid the subject, but ultimately I couldn't let her. She knew too much. More than the average scientist of this topic.

" How did you get yours?" I could tell that question struck a cord in the old woman as she sneered over the folder, slamming it closed with an uneven glare.

" I'd prefer to keep my privacy." There it was, the lack of honourifics, only glorifying the fact something had happened, something she needed to keep secret.

I watched, keeping my wondering thoughts to myself as she scurried swiftly around my room, adjusting things here and there before excusing herself. As the door swung open, I had to ask one last question.

" Do you know MinSeok?"
