"Come on Rowan!" Jack said to me as we ran. "It's not my fault Lou said Hi!" I say. I can dimly hear him panting so I know he's tired. We race along the path to the orphanage. I hear him panting heavily and know I need to take my chance. I sprint away from him as I hear him call "Rowan, wait up!" I don't listen to him and keep running. I turn onto Abby street and stop in front of the dark red building. Abby street was a short one lined with a few houses and small shops. A few minutes later Jack runs panting up with me. "Took you long enough." I joke. He sighs and sits down on the step in front of the orphanage. Most people would think that this was a terrible place but the orphanage leader was a kind woman. I sit down next to Jack as a bright pink car pulls onto Abby street. Jack stands up as the car stops in front of Grace Marie's house. A tall woman steps out. She walks up to the house and rings the doorbell. Grace steps out and talks to the woman. Then the woman leaves. I run over to her burning with questions. "What was that?" I spit out. "I think that woman was trying to buy my house." Grace responds. "But it wasn't good enough." "Grace, do u really have to move?" I ask. "Do you?" Jack asks. "Yes, darlings." Grace says. "I can't stay on Abby Street no longer." "When will you leave?" I ask. "Whenever this'll be sold, Rowan." She responds. "I'll miss you." I say. "I'll miss you guys." Grace says. I wait no longer and turn back to the orphanage. I trud up the steps and open the squeaky door. "What's wrong?" Mary asks. "Grace will be moving soon." I respond. Jack comes in after me and we walk up the stairs to our rooms. I slip into me and Jenna's room. Jack hugs me then turns and goes into his lonely room.
