Luciana Point of View:
My eyes snapped open in a panic. My hands were ready to attack whoever was shaking me.
"Hey, relax it's just me", Alexander explained, putting his hands up in defense, "I won't wake you up like that anymore."
I shrugged, "It wasn't your fault."
'Attention passengers we now arriving at the station at 47th street'
"Come on, this is our stop", I muttered and got up from my seat," Don't blame me if you get lost or something..."
He scoffed," You say that like I am a child who gets lost all the time."
I rolled my eyes as we exited the train. It took us a few minutes to weave in between the crowds of busy people trying to get on the train. I noticed some familiar faces as we passed by, some were friendly others weren't.
Luckily none of them decided to pick a fight with me and we were able to get onto the street easily.
"We are still at least a mile away", I explained and began walking down the sidewalk.
As I walked down the once familiar street, memories of Zane invaded my head. I shook my head instead of trying to enjoy them. I didn't have the time to be nostalgic.
My palms began to get sweaty and my heart started to pound inside my chest as I saw the familiar brick house. I anxiously went up the stairs and softly knocked on the wooden door.
It had been almost two years since I had seen, let alone spoke to Zane. Hopefully he didn't go back on his offer. He probably doesn't even remember.
This was a dumb plan. I went to turn around, but before I could a woman opened the door.
"I'm sorry I must have the wrong house", I mumbled embarrassed. Of course he wouldn't live in the same house.
"You're Luciana, aren't you?" She asked me with a smile.
I instantly turned around to look at her. How did she know that? Maybe Zane warned the new owners in case I ever came back.
"Zane told me to be expecting if you ever came back", She explained, "He's upstairs working if you would like to come inside?"
"That... That would be lovely", I smiled sweetly at her.
She opened the door fully so we could come inside. Alexander followed behind me as we entered the home. The kitchen was mostly still the same, the only difference was there now more decorations scattered about.
Alexander kept close to me as the woman led us to the living room.
"Please, make yourselves comfortable while I go get Zane", She explained.
"Thank you", Alexander replied.
I took the moment to properly look around the room. The two black leather sofas were in the same spot, along with the old wooden coffee table. Now there was a large flat screen television mounted to the wall.
Photos were scattered along the once bare walls. There were some with Zane and the woman I just met. And some with two similar looking girls. The sound of footsteps echoing brought me out of my thoughts.
"It took you long enough to get over your stubbornness", He chuckled.
I smiled, happy to see him,"It's good to see you."
He rushed towards me and pulled me into a warm tight hug. It was just like I remembered. I wrapped my arms snuggly around him. He squeezed me a bit tighter, I had to bite my tongue harshly to silent myself.
Zane then let go of me and took a seat next to the woman on the other sofa. I took my seat next to Alexander.
"Luci, your family is looking for you", He sternly explained.
I shook my head, "How do you know that?"
"I have more connections now."
"But how?"
"I'm sure you noticed the photos on the wall, yes?"
"Yes.", I agreed.
"This is my wife Hazel", He glanced at the woman sitting next to him, then looked at a photo on the coffee table of just the two little girls," And those two are our daughters, Margaret and Lucinda. Or as I like to call her Luci."
My jaw dropped in awe. "You named... your daughter Lucinda?"
"Yes", Hazel said with a proud smile," Once Zane told me about you I just knew I needed to incorporate you into her name since you are the reason we officially got together."
I was practically bursting with pride," I would love to hear that store, but you haven't fully answered my question."
"Ah yes.", Zane muttered before clearing his throat," Hazel is the daughter of the American Mafia Don. When he calls to chat with everyone, he sometimes talks about what is happening with the other Mafia's. For example, the Italian Mafia is looking for the youngest daughter again."
Before the conversation could continue, the front door was opened and the sound of arguing could be heard. I glanced at the origin of the sound. It was little Margaret and Lucinda having a proper argument.
"Maggie, Luci", Zane said sternly," We have guests."
"Why don't you two head up to your room to play for a bit?"Hazel suggested.
The two girls went upstairs. They were only upstairs for a few moments before the arguing started again.
"Those two can't get along for more than a few minutes", Zane laughed and went towards the stairs.
"Hey Zane?"I asked before he could get upstairs," Can I borrow your phone?"
He took his phone from his pocket and tossed it towards me. I caught it and smiled at him," Thanks."
He nodded and went upstairs to the arguing children. I took a breath before dialing the only number I could remember. The familiar ringing filled my ears, however no one answered and it went straight to voicemail.
'This is Vincenzo Roman, please leave your name, and number. I will get back to you as soon as possible.'
Even his voicemail was serious. "Hey Vin-", Before I could continue the all too familiar sound of gunfire filled the air.
Alexander pulled me off the couch with him and we took cover on the floor. I heard the girls scream upstairs and my heart started to race even more.
"No no no...", Hazel mumbled as she darted up the stairs. However before she could reach the top landing, her body tumbled down the stairs.
I grabbed the phone that fell under the coffee table and instantly started to talk, hoping the voicemail was still recording," It's Luciana. Fuck, tell Lorenzo he will finally get to kill that mother fucker.... He will understand what I mean."
"Luciana we have to get out of here", Alexander told me as he pulled me up from the floor towards the door. He kept us lowered to the ground, hoping to avoid any fire.
I saw Hazel's lifeless body on the ground,"I'm so sorry I did this..."
