Luciana Point of View:
I groaned to myself as the same argument began once again. It's been a few hours of my family arguing with the American Mafia. They can't agree on a plan to hunt down Mia.
When I was rescuing my family, she used the chaos as a cover to escape. She didn't seem like a massive threat to me. However my family and the American Mafia felt differently.
"For fucks sake", I slammed my fist onto the oak table," You are all behaving like children."
"Who even let her in here?", Someone annoyingly mumbled.
"If you all can't decide who gets to kill her, I will cut her down the middle so you each get an equal half", I decided and leaned back in my chair.
No one dared to mumble an objection. I was proudly smirking at my decision.
"Well that's an idea", Zane chuckled and went behind my wheelchair," Come join me for a breath of fresh air."
Once we were in the hall, I scoffed," I was actually making some progress on that plan."
"No, you were causing an issue that would have serious consequences later down the line," He sighed and pushed me outside towards the lake.
I would never admit it, but the cool breeze felt relaxing. I could sit out here for hours and lose myself while watching the small waves.
I sighed, "I'm sorry you had to see that."
Zane chuckled," No need to apologize, everyone has outbursts."
"That's not what I'm apologizing for", I muttered," I'm sorry you had to see me so... bloodied up."
He was staring at the dark lake water," You don't need to apologize for that either."
"I never wanted anyone, i've cared for, to see me act so insane", I admitted.
"When you told me you wanted to be an assassin, I wasn't afraid of you getting hurt", He explained, his eyes never leaving the calming waves of the lake, "I was afraid you would become the killing machine I was."
I furrowed my brows. There was no way that Zane was ever a killer. He was always so calm and caring. He soon noticed the confused state I was caught in.
He sighed," My father was a gang leader. From a young age, he trained me to fight and eventually how to kill. Years later, I decided I didn't want to do it anymore."
"He killed my mother in front of me", Zane continued," I killed my father that day, then anyone who got in my way."
His eyes were starting to tear up," That day we met, I was hiding a body. Then once you were asleep that night, I went and killed that guy who was chasing you."
"How did you stop the rampage", I curiously asked.
"You."
"What?"
"You stopped it", He explained," That day we met, that was the final time I killed anyone."
"I'm sorry for leaving you", I apologized.
"For those few years that I didn't hear from you, I didn't know if you were dead, alive, or safe", He muttered.
Zane stood up from the bench he was sitting on and hugged me. I wrapped my arms around him tightly. Before I could stop anything, all the tears I had been fighting so hard to keep in, rushed down my face.
"I'm so sorry", I sniffed and squeezed him even tighter.
He simply nodded. I had a feeling he was trying not to cry as well. We continued to hug for a few more moments before he pulled away from me.
"I think we should go check on that meeting before they set the mansion on fire", He smiled and began to push me back inside the mansion.
It didn't take us long to reach the meeting room. Once inside, the tense atmosphere was obvious.
"What the hell happened", I demanded as Zane pushed me back to my spot at the table.
Vince was standing up in front of his chair. His eye was twitching wildly. That was his tail when he was agitated.
Val yawned, "An agreement cannot be made." Stress was ominous in his tired voice.
"Why not?", I asked.
One of the American Mafia's men stood from his chair, "You.... you are the only reason we cannot compromise on a deal", He sneered while glaring at me.
"Me?", I scoffed," Explain your reasons."
"You are Lucifer, correct?" He continued, "If we use our resources to hunt this Mia down, who's to say another one of your many enemies may attack you and we get caught in the crossfire again?"
I sighed," I understand your concerns." I glanced at the man I recognized as the leader of the American Mafia," Please assist us with tracking her down. This is your territory, your men know it better than ours. Besides, this will help bring closure to Hazel."
He raised his eyebrows, "How do you expect my men to track her down? My land has many places to hide. It will take a long time to check them all."
"I don't expect 'us' to find her", I explained and stood up from the wheelchair. It has been a few days since the attack and my body has been healing nicely. I took a few steps towards the leader," Just have your men stand guard on your borders. I will hunt her down myself."
"How do I know you will be able to find her?"He questioned.
"You don't. I am asking you to trust me", I stated and reached my hand towards him," She will be all yours after I catch her."
He sighed," Do not let me down Lucifer." Threat was hidden deep within his voice.
He extended his arm and firmly shook my hand. I smiled as he agreed to my terms.
