Luciana Point of View:
My eyes snapped open as I took deep breaths. The air was fresh and relaxing, like after it rains.
My vision was slowly becoming clear after being groggy. Val was staring over me with paddles in his hands. His eyes were full of tears. Antonio stood at the bottom of the bed with the same look Val had.
"The fuck is wrong with you two?", I asked and winced once I felt the pain in my chest again.
Val sniffled a few times and shook his head. His head was at an angle as he tried not to let the tears escape his eyes.
"It can't be that bad", I said and glanced at Antonio. Who was walking to the other side of my bed.
He grabbed my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "Luciana... you.. You were dead."
I scoffed," No way... I'm alive, very much alive."
"It's true", Val sighed," Your heart stopped beating." He paused for a moment then continued," I tried everything to bring you back... I lost all hope and then something pulled you back."
I chuckled as I remember what Mama told me 'It's not your time.' "I was dead",I blurted.
Antonio anxiously squeezed my hand,"How do you know that?"
"Mama told me to wake up", I answered," I can't explain it, but she told me to keep fighting."
"Fucking hell", Val whispered and ran his fingers through his hair.
We sat for a few minutes before Antonio said," Someone should go tell Lorenzo that you aren't dead."
"What?", I questioned.
"He was in here when your heart stopped and then that Zane guy forced him out of here when Val wasn't able to get it beating again", Antonio explained.
I looked at him puzzled," Zane is dead."
Antonio shook his head. I glanced at Valentino and he shook his head as well.
"There was an attack on his house", I muttered.
Valentino said," He barged into that cell when you passed out and led us here, to the American Mafia's base."
Zane wasn't dead, he was alive. "I need to see him," I demanded.
"Of course", Antonio said and left the room.
Val took his place and held my hand," I still don't understand how you are alive."
It only took a few minutes before the door was slammed open harshly. I smiled once I saw Zane, his eyes became watery as he rushed over to my side. However he didn't hug me like I assumed he would.
"What's wrong?", I questioned.
"You were dead", He frowned.
"I'm not dead now."
"You died", He repeated.
I sighed," I am not dead now, and neither are you, so fucking hug me."
He chuckled and rolled his eyes before he hugged me. Once his arm touched my side, I hissed in pain.
"What's wrong with me?", I demanded while looking at Valentino.
"You were shot in your side", He muttered.
My hands went to my side and lifted the large t-shirt. There was a large blood soaked bandage on my side. I don't know why, but I decided to poke it with my finger. I winced and regretted it immediately.
"It was a miracle", Zane added," None of your organs were injured."
"I didn't even realize I was shot until... Cora shot me in my leg", I admitted and looked at my leg. There were stitches on my upper thigh.
"Adrenaline will do that to you", Antonio chuckled.
Another flash of a memory invaded my head. My family was taken there against their will. "Is everyone alright?", I asked and glanced at Valentino then Antonio.
"Only a few scrapes and scratches", Val informed," You got the worst of it."
I sighed in relief. Wait, if Zane is alive does that mean his daughters lived as well.
"Zane?"I asked," Are they, your girls?"
Zane smiled," They are alive and well." He frowned," But Hazel... she didn't make it."
"I'm sorry, she seemed so lovely", I apologize.
He nodded and tears filled his eyes once more.
"Can I get out of this room", I asked. I needed to see my family to be sure they were alright.
They all exchanged looks before Val began," Fine, but you are to stay in a wheelchair. No ifs or buts."
"Deal", I agreed.
Antonio left the room and came back with a wheelchair. Zane and Valentino lifted me up and sat me in the chair carefully. Zane pushed me out of the depressing hospital room and into the hall.
As we passed through the hall, guards were keeping their distance and giving me odd looks. Some seemed frightened of me? Strange. As I went further down the hall, I heard loud angry yelling.
"Take me into that room", I told Zane.
"I don't know if that's a good idea", Valentino announced.
Zane ignored his worries and wheeled me into the room. As we entered, all the noise stopped and everyone looked at me.
The rest of my older brothers were sitting at a large table with a bunch of other men who I didn't recognize. Once I made eye contact with Lorenzo, he jumped up and ran over to me.
"I thought you were dead", he mumbled and carefully hugged me.
"I was dead", I shrugged.
Marcello took Lorenzo's spot and hugged me, "It's too early for that."
Marcello was a jokester so it was strange for him to tell me off for making jokes.
"I was only trying to lighten the mood", I frowned.
Vince took Marcello's spot and hugged me even tighter than anyone. "How the hell is she alive?" Vince asked Val, still keeping his arms around me securely.
I scoffed, "Isn't it obvious?"
All eyes were on me once again. "I was disrupting the peace in hell."
