>>OFF POV>>
I still can't understand why Mae dragged Gun to our backyard. I managed, though painfully, to follow close behind Gun just in case Mae had any weird ideas in mind. Mae opened the back door and pointed at the house behind us. It didn't take long for Gun to grab my hand and started jumping happily as he pointed at the house.

"P, I found my house! How weird is it that our houses are beside each other." he was ecstatic and kept on jumping.

"That's great." I smiled at him.

"Mae, how did you know?" Gun asked when he stopped jumping. I guess he finally ran out of energy.

"Your Pors are friends back in college while me and your Mae used to go to the same highschool." Mae pointed out.

"Wait. Didn't you have dinner with them the other night? How come Gun didn't recognize you?" I asked.

"I was sleeping when they left so they didn't bother to wake me up." Gun explained.

"Gun, feel free to stay here for as long as you like na." Mae said. "I think your Mae won't like you staying alone."

Gun smiled but I could see a hint of sadness in his eyes.

"You go ahead and prepare. Off will wait for you so you can go to school together." Mae told Gun.

We both watched as went inside and disappeared into the house. I know that Mae wanted to talk to me about something so I turned to her and waited for her to talk.

"I need you to watch over Gun, Off." she finally said

I waited for her to continue with a sob story but she didn't say anything else. I looked at her to encourage her to tell me more but she just grabbed my arms and assisted me to walk inside.

We walked all the way to the living room where we sat down across each other. She was about to say something when she stared at my feet.

"Tsk tsk tsk! Off, are you still a kid to have a sprained ankle?" she asked me.

"Wow. Judgemntal much?" I said sarcastically.

"Have you already applied medicine?" she asked.

"Yes, I'm not a son of a doctor if not for anything else." I said.

"Well good. Otherwise, you would've wasted my efforts teaching you." she's acttually right. Instead of head, shoulders, knees and toes,

Mae was teaching me the human anatomy. I learned skull before I learned brain, phallanges instead of fingers. At a time I was more adept to using medical terms instead of the common terms generally used.

She took out a crutch and a box of first aid and helped me wrap my ankle.

"I'm not using that." I pointed to the crutch laying beside me.

"Let's see if you can stand on both feet with that swelling." she challenged.

I could easily hide the bandage but the crutch would be another thing. Using one just attracts too many attention. I also don't want to make Gun feel any guilt for me saving him. It was an abrupt reaction but then if I would do it all over again for him. I just want to always see him happy.

Mae and I were now standing in the middle of the living room arguing about using the crutch when Gun arrived with yet another worried face.

"Aw, P'Off " he pouted as he examined me and the bandage showing underneath the hem of my pants. "I didn't know it was that bad. I'm sorry."

"Gun, Off doesn't like to use the crutch." Mae started.

"Don't worry, Mae. I'll carry him to school." he proudly said as he put my arm around his shoulders.
