Ali sat down, propping the phone up against a tree next to her. It was no use, calling for Roy. He'd never answer.
He had deserted her, just like the rest.
Even though they hadn't really left her.
The wind picked up, blowing Ali's brown hair across her face. She brushed it behind her ear.
What was her mother going to say? It had sounded like she was saying she was coming, but how could she do that?
Unless she knew...
Ali had too many questions, and too few answers.
"Hello?" asked someone, and Ali bolted up, grabbing a tree branch to use as a wooden irregular sword. It definitely wasn't Roy, but it might be another spy sent by the queen.
"Is anybody there?" It was someone she knew. Someone she knew really well, but her mind was too messed up from Roy and her mom that she couldn't put a face to the name.
Then the figure did.
"Cocoa?"
"Ali?"
"But the wolf said you were captured!"
"He told me you were too!"
Ali furrowed her brows. "But then he lied..."
"Wouldn't put it past him."
A question popped into Ali's head, and she blurted it out without a second thought. "Where are the others?"
"You haven't seen them?" Cocoa's eyes widened, like she had been expecting a different answer.
Ali shook her head. "No, why?"
"Tom and Sandy both went after you. I'd figured they'd gotten you out."
"No, there was a hole in the wall..," she trailed off, realizing that Cocoa probably wouldn't believe her. Then again, she would likely believe anything at this point.
"What about Maria?"
Ali looked to the ground. "One of the girls in the dungeon, they saw her. She... Was a bit crazy, I think. They said she was mumbling about a traitor."
At that Cocoa raised her eyebrows. "A traitor?" Ali nodded.
"Before we get into that, two more things. One, I met my brother who ran off just before you got here, and two, I called my mother and she said she was coming."
"I know."A/N: I have made it a goal of mine to update once a week on weekends, and I'm hoping I can accomplish it.
Anyways, Cocoa's back! I love writing her, because she's pretty crazy (like you likely are). She's acting really normal because she's scared. It's a Cocoa thing.
If you're wondering what the last line meant, I guess you'll have to wait another week (I keep spelling that wekk...).
