"Not again," Maria muttered. Ali couldn't see anything, she dare not breathe (well, at least not very much) and she stayed so still Tom must have thought she was dead.
Roy laughed, and Ali couldn't imagine how she'd ever thought he was kind. "This was our base. We know all the little nooks and crannies. Did you really think we'd forget to check this spot?"
"It was worth a try."
Ali peeked an eye out, and Roy was pulling Maria out of the place and wrapping a strand of chains around her hands
Really, Roy? she thought. Mar isn't that dangerous.
Roy slid into the hiding hole and looked around, grabbing onto Ed and Sandy and pulling them out. Ali pulled the blanket over her head and squeezed her eyes closed.
"You too, Ali," he said, pulling her part of the blanket off. "Nice to see you've woken up."
Her older brother yanked her out of the room and proceded to lock her hands and attach her to a long chain. She wouldn't be going anywhere, Ali thought with a sigh.
Roy closed the door, and Ali counted who had been caught.
Tom.
He was still free.
Ali willed him to stay that way and try to figure a way how to (not foolishly) release them. He was basically their only hope now.
The quartet of prisoners were led down a hallway, into a blindingly white room, and in front of Ali's mom, Cocoa, and Quendel. The wolf.
Ali sighed. Just like last time, except now with better security.
"What do you want?" she asked.
Her mother replied. "For now, your cooperation and to listen to what we have to say."
Ali looked to Maria, who did a quick nod. It's our only chance, she mouthed.
Tom, Ali replied.
What if he doesn't end up coming? Back up plan. Ali couldn't argue with that one. She looked at her mother and nodded.
"You know the evil queen," she said. Ali moved her hands to what would probably be a more confortable position.
Not.
Something- probably the chains- dug into her wrists, and when she shifted again-
A key fell into her palm. She looked at Roy, awaiting confirmation, and got a quick nod.
Thank you thank you thank you. She fiddled with the lock, half listening to what her mother was saying about stopping the queen from destroying the world and stuff Ali could really care less about.
She passed the key along to Ed.
By the time Mom had finished her little speech about assassinating the queen and such, Maria had finished unlocking herself, and the four were set to run.
Thy exchanged a nod.
3... 2...
The doors burst open and a shot was fired.
Right on target.
"No, Tom, no," Ali said, starting to run towards her older brother.
Roy wasn't wearing a bulletproof vest.A/N: So I decided to update early. I'm on summer break and have nothing to do this week, so I'm really bored and writing is my only salvation.
I'll be updating irregularily for the next and last 3 chapters, with a death and a whole lotta more confusion.
Thanks for reading!
