"These guards must be terrible."
"What do you mean?" Sandy asked. Ali pointed to the hole in the side of a giant wooden wall. She could see Maria through it, and Ali had no idea why. Shouldn't she be able to get out?
"The hole. They must be terrible if they haven't covered it up."
Come on, she thought. It's huge. There was no need of an extraction plan if Maria could just walk out.
Or they could just set fire to it. With it being wood, they could- never mind. They didn't want to burn their friend. The guards and queen, oh well. The world could live without them.
"What hole?"
"C'mon," Ali arched an eyebrow and turned to Sandy, arms crossed. "You have to be kidding me. You honestly don't see that giant, gaping hole in the wall."
"Ali," Sandy said, hesitating before he continued. "Do you think you might be hallucinating?"
"I think you might be the one hallucinating," Ali retorted.
"Let's go back to camp." Sandy hurried Ali out of the castle's area.
Why, Ali had no idea. They could have just run in there and taken Maria back, but Sandy had to hold her back.
They were walking back when Ali felt an urge to turn.
"That's not the right way!" Sandy called after her.
Ali didn't respond.
There was music playing now. A tinkling, nature-y kind of music. It was happy, like at the end of a comedic movie when the credits are rolling.
"Ali, get back here." Sandy lunged, but Ali easily sidestepped the flailing boy and continued.
She could see it now.
Gleaming golden, ruby encrusted hilt. Shining like moonlight itself.
The only problem was that it was stuck in the trunk of a tree.
Ali knew that she needed to get it out. She could probably just pull it, she reasoned. Such a fine blade would just slide out of it easily.
Her hand was moving forward towards the dagger.
Sandy dove for her knees, and-A/N: I'm so evil, aren't I. Any thoughts on how this'll end up? Such as;
a) Sandy will tackle her, she won't touch it, and they'll all be magically transported to The Land Of Rainbows.
b) Ali will touch it and fall into a deep sleep. When she wakes up she will be tied up in a room with Ed.
c) Ali will touch it and die instantly.
d) Ali will touch it, nothing will happen, and she'll get a cool dagger to go all ninja on the queen with.
e) Sandy will tackle her and things will resume as normal.
Any other ideas?
