After learning that Cassie wasn't my daughter and that Jess had an affair, I got rid of everything that was hers. I took Kelly to get a whole new wardrobe for the pregnancy and donated the clothes from Jess. I even gave Valerie the wine collection Jess had.
I took Kelly to pick out a guard dog when Joyce approved she could have one at work as long as it wore a police vest. Kelly decided to just do clinic work so the dog could be therapeutic to her patients. She was a German shepherd named Daisy and picked Kelly out of all the other people looking to adopt a guard dog.
I was just finishing up putting on my uniform for work when Kelly came out of the closet. She walks up to me and adjusts my badge. I give her a kiss and her eyes meet mine. "Does that mean I'm forgiven," she asks in a choked whisper.
"I wasn't mad at you, just hurt finding out that a child I was mourning for two years wasn't mine. I'm sorry if I made you feel otherwise," I say softly, wiping her eyes. She comes in my arms as tears roll down her cheeks. "I'll make it up to you tonight."
She sniffles and I rub her back in comfort. "What do you want to do tonight," I ask in a soothing whisper.
"This," she says in a whisper as she kisses me passionately and pushes me down on the bed, never breaking the kiss. She straddles my hips and looks down at me with desire in her eyes. "I want to give you everything she never gave us."
I caress her stomach and choke with a smile, "You're already giving me everything she never did."
Carrie and I were responding to a domestic call. When we got to the address, screams could be heard from inside. I break down the front door and find the husband beating his pregnant wife. Rage took over me and I grab hold of the husband.I start beating on him and Carrie had to pull me off him. His face was a bloody mess and the pregnant woman comes in my arms, shaking from fear. I take her to sit on the couch and find a first aid box in the kitchen.
I gingerly clean her face while we waited for a backup car and an ambulance to arrive. "Is this the first he's hit you," I ask softly and she shakes her head. I motion to her stomach and ask, "May I? I have some medical training from the military."
She lays back, exposing her stomach and there were bruises everywhere. The moment I place my hand on her stomach the baby gave a strong kick. She lets out a relieved sob and I let out a relieved sigh. "Your baby seems fine, but the hospital can give you a full checkup when we get there," I say softly as she sits up and I rub her stomach. "Is there someone I can call to meet us at the hospital?"
"My sister," she chokes in a calming breath. "Our parents died in a car accident last year."
"I'm sorry to hear that," I say in sympathy as paramedics walk in. "Hey guys, I cleaned her up some. Bruises cover her stomach, but baby is kicking."
"Carrie showed us the number you did on the husband," Molly says impressed.
"I wanted him to know what his wife was feeling," I say in a protective tone.
"Are you riding along with the wife or is Carrie?"
"I want her to ride with me," she chokes in a scared whisper and looks at me. "Please?"
I nod lightly and help her up from the couch. There was blood where she was sitting and she collapses in my arms. "She has heavy vaginal bleeding," I say in a serious tone.
It was an hour wait before I heard word on Mrs. Burke and the baby. The baby was delivered caesarean at six weeks early. She's stable and already feeding. Mrs. Burke was asking for the officer who rode in the ambulance and I follow Claire to her room.
