I was back at work a few weeks later, following up on a lead to my case. An anonymous tip said the missing girl was last seen near an abandoned house outside of town. The kidnapper hasn't been seen around in two days so I took my chances and went there to look around. The moment I walk in the door I feel a hard hit to the back of my head, blacking out.

I woke up with my head throbbing. I try to reach and rub the back of my head, but I couldn't move my hands. I look down and see I'm restrained to a chair by duct tape. I look at my waist and I'm thankful for wearing a belt. Why you may ask? I can use my belt to cut through the tape and escape. By the looks of it, I'm still at the abandoned house. Thankfully I told Caroline and Jamie where I was going.

I decide to wait to see is holding me against my will before I try my escape tactics I told my unit to use in a situation like this. My instinct to wait was right as moments later a man I thought was dead walks up to me with a sadistic smile on his face. "You're dead," I say in denial.

"Oh I'm very much alive, as for you daughter, you're about to die a very painful death," he says with a sinister smile and I feel my heart race." Don't worry, your family is next and Caroline will get hers worst of all."

"What have I ever done to you," I ask as tears fill my eyes.

"You're an abomination of the devil," he screams in my face and plunges a blade in my lower abdomen.

I grunt as I feel the hilt against my stomach. The next thing I know he's punching me all over with spiked brass knuckles. All I could think about with every blow was that my family is safe and I get out of here. My vision starts to fade and water is splashed on my face. "Wake up, I'm not done with you bitch," he sneers and I hear a whip crack.

I realize I'm no longer in the chair and I'm chained to a wall. The blade is still stuck in my gut and then the bite from the whip on my chest. I wince and I feel another and another. "You're stronger than I thought," he growls with disappointment.

I laugh as blood sputters from my mouth. He looks at me confused and I say dryly, "I've survived worse than this you son of a bitch. You hit like a girl. Are you that weak that I need to be restrained?"

I laugh maniacally as he continues to whip me. Taunting him worked, he throws the whip down on the ground and storms out. I can't feel anything, probably due to blood loss. I close my eyes and moments later I hear a faint whisper, "Hey, are you alive?"

I open my eyes slightly and it's a teenage girl. "Get out while you can, get help," I say in a weak whisper. "Tell them Detective Jennifer Williams sent you."

"I have a chain on my ankle. I was in the next room," she says quietly and I feel her clean my face. "He told me to clean you up, he said he has something bigger planned for later."

"Has he touched you," I ask, fighting to keep my eyes open.

"No, I'm only here to lure you here, my guess is when he's done with you, I'm next," she chokes in a scared whisper.

"Look at me," I say in a soothing whisper and she does as tears roll down her cheeks. "I'm going to get you out of here."

"How, he's coming back in two hours," she says in a panicked tone.

"Do you have a hairpin," I ask and she nods, looking at me skeptically. I look up and see my hands are on a hook. "Can you help me down, just watch the knife."

She gently gets me down and back in the chair. She gives me her hairpin and I use it to pick the lock on my cuffs. I get free and point to her foot. I pick the lock holding the chain and she's freed. She lifts my arm over my shoulder and it took what was left of my strength not to scream.
