It's been a couple weeks since Carrie moved into the guest room. It's been fun with her around. Both of them are now distracted by my body. I could be cooking at the stove and hear them gasp when I need to lean down to check in the oven. They even watch me do my workout in the morning.

My mother was over for dinner a few nights ago and laughed at the two of them. They had their eyes on my every move like they were hypnotized. I wasn't even putting on a show for them. I was caught up in the cooking and my mother had to tell me about it.

I was currently on the phone with the warden from the prison my father was in. "You're sure he's dead and all threats are gone," I ask in a choked whisper.

"Yes, he was caught up in a prison gang fight and another prisoner stabbed him with a shiv," the warden says softly. "All of those who followed him are in solidarity confinement."

I break into relieved sobs and Carrie takes the phone. "Thank you warden, I'm sure she's relieved that her fiancee is no longer under a threat," Carrie says softly, rubbing my back in comfort.

She hangs up the phone as Kelly returns from the bathroom. Kelly takes me in her arms and I let out a calming breath. "What happened," she asks with concern.

"Her father was killed in a prison fight. I think she's just relieved there's no more threats on you," Carrie says in a soothing tone, stroking hair from my eyes.

I caress Kelly's stomach and moments later I felt the first kick. I move to kneel between her legs and kiss her stomach over the spot I felt the kick. I gently lay my head on her stomach and feel as the twins kick at my face. I shutter a calming breath and Kelly plays her fingers in my hair.

"How did you get her calmed down so fast," Carrie asks amazed.

"I had nothing to do with calming her down," Kelly chokes quietly as she continues to play with my hair. "They're kicking calmed her down."

Moments later I heard my mother walk in and she stops herself before saying anything. "She just calmed down," Kelly chokes quietly as my mother sits next to her. "The twins kicking is what calmed her down."

"Did you want me to stay Jennifer," my mother asks in a soothing tone.

I nod lightly and close my eyes. I feel the kicking stop moments later and kiss her stomach. I raise up and give Kelly a kiss. "I'm gonna go cook, I need to let this news settle in," I say quietly and head to the kitchen.

I was in the middle of chopping vegetables when I felt Kelly hug at my back. The twins kick at my lower back and I relax in her arms. "Talk to me Jen," she says softly kissing my shoulder. "Its not your father that's bothering you."

"I can't shadow you anymore with him dead and the threats gone. You've had a dozen attacks in two weeks," I choke quietly and look over my shoulder at her. "Who will be there to stop the next person who tries to hurt you?"

"I'll still have Daisy," she says in a reassuring tone. "You can still drop me off and pick me up if it will put your mind at ease. You could even stop by the hospital occasionally to check on me."

Tears roll down my cheeks and I nod vigorously. I turn in her arms and she rubs my back in comfort. "I might never leave your side if I go through with this. Before finding out the truth, I mourned for two years over a family I lost. I can't go through it with you, knowing the truth," I choke quietly.

"I'm not going anywhere Jennifer," she says softly, kissing me passionately. She wipes my eyes and asks with a light smile, "What are we making?"

"To be honest, I didn't think about that. Chopping the carrot was a distraction," I say with a light smile and she laughs at me. "What did you want to eat?"
