Backstory: After Karai and Harumi's parents died, they were sent to an orphanage and separated. However, Karai ran away and met her best friend Max who became like a little brother to her. They lived on the streets together and became crime fighting vigilantes because she wants to protect others since she couldn't protect her parents and knew that's what her parents would have wanted.
