The giddiness was visible on Sofia's face as her eyes skimmed the surroundings outside the window of the moving car. The view was of a majestic looking forest that went on and on and on.
To normal eyes this would just be a forest that held no significance but to Sofia it was beauty in its natural form, nurtured and cared for by mother nature herself. The urge to remove the annoying shoes on her feet and make a dash to the forest and simply run with no care or direction seemed so tempting to Sofia.
"I'm so excited for this year's mating season!" The girl who was seated in front of Sofia cheers her eyes sparkling with glee.
This caught the attention of the other girls including Sofia. Sofia knew what the mating season was all about, she had heard it from countless girls who participated in the event but were not lucky enough to find a mate.
Mating season was all about finding your mate as the name implies. A simple touch and a lock of the eyes is how one knows of their mates.
Mates held much importance to the were people as they believed that the Goddess Selene blessed them with a better half to complete their incomplete souls.
So a tradition was introduced to gather all the mateless wolves that are 18 and above to find their mates in what they liked to call The mating season.
Sofia wasn't much of a romantic like most of the girls in the car with her, she was far to busy with furry creatures, paint brushes and forest escapades to worry about boys. She of course like any other girl has been infatuated with a boy or two before but when she approached them at first they would like her but for all the wrong reasons her innocent mind couldn't comprehend.
But she was excited to go to the castle, she had heard many things about the castle, the old paintings, the interior, the exterior, the gardens. It all intrigued her. But just as the other girls, she was slightly worried. The king wasn't exactly nice from what she has heard but she didn't like judging other people.
The owner of the castle, the king was never one to participate in social activities much like this one, it was a known fact that the king did not like being around people and people most deffinatly didn't like being around him.
He wore his darkness with pride. He loved and thrived from the fear in people's eyes when they hear his name. Although he was a good leader to his people- keeping them safe and the economy rich- he was also known for never giving second chances and never tolerating any behaviours that triggered his anger.
It was death straight away.
"I wonder what made the king want to host this year, he never hosts...or participates." Ariana, the same girl who said the first comment once again speaks.
"Ag, who cares, I would not mind being in the presents of the King. I might just be his mate." Kimberly gashes. Even though she had never seen the king just like all the other girls she already loved him.
"What if he is an old grumpy man, with bold hair and rotten teeth." River rolls her eyes. She never liked Kimberly and her antics.
"So? As long as he's loaded I wouldn't mind." She laughs along with Ariana and Samantha.
River also hated the two other girls. They were just like Kimberly maybe not as worse but just as bad.
"When are we getting off this car or I just might start loosing brain cells from being in the presents of these ladies." River whispers in Sofia's ear earning a slap on her wrist.
"That's mean River!" she scolds her eyes narrowed. She was so very adorable. "Okay okay I'm sorry no need to get rough." River says lifting her hands up as a form of surrender earning a satisfied smile from Sofia.
"Ladies, we have arrived."
