He didn't want to leave her.

Damn it.

She looked so small, bundled up in his arms as she slept. He couldnt bring himself to leave but he had to, the situation involved vampires and so it was urgent.

He knew that it was probably the fact that she was still in heat that made it harder to leave her but she was asleep so that meant she wouldnt be in as much pain if he left.

He slowly deattached himself, careful not to wake her up. She made a couple of noises of discomfort but cuddles the pillow besides her and goes back to sleep, to his relief.

Lucian fixes up his wrinkled shirt and makes his way to the conference room where his second, third, his head worrier and a few council members were waiting for him.

When he entred they all fell to their knees and bowed.

"Rise." His voice boomed. It was slightly laced with agitation as he thought of his sleeping mate. He should be with her not here.

"Tell me." He demands once seated.

"What is so important that you had to disrupt me."

"The Vampires didnt take you impaling and hanging one of their own lightly." His second, Kaden spoke.

"As expected, tell something i dont know." The king says leaning back on his chair.

"Well they retaliated by taking one of our own man, one of the guards stationed near the border. They returned his body with a note." Spoke Matthew, his the third.

The king stretches out his hand and Matthew places the note on his palm.

The note read

'I've taken a pawn of yours but I'm aiming for your queen.
Your move'

Lucian scrunches up the paper and throws it on the floor, " Give me the details of the guard."

"Name, Joshua Lofer
Age, 26
Height, 6ft
Status, Lower Guard
Mated
1 kid
Lives near town,
24 Holad street" the head worrier, Thomas says reading from a file.

"Mmh, he has a kid, what a shame. Inform the family and send my condolences." Lucian says casually to the head worrier who stand up and exits.

"Now time to plan our next move."

Before any further information could be said there was a knock, inturupting the king.

"Im sure you all informed everyone that there is a private meeting going on, yes." The king says through his irritation.
He hated being interrupted.

They all nod thier head.

"Good now i am going to open the door and if it is a report that somebody has died or the castle is burning you all will be punished accordingly." The kings smiles as he looked at everyone in the room.

The fear they oozed make his smile just a little wider.

He goeas and opens the door only to find his crying mate. Her face was pink and wet with tears and mucus. Her arms were wrapped around her body as she shook.

She looked up at him her blue eyes wide. "It hurts and and and you left." She whimpers.

He reaches out and carries her. Her legs wrap around his waist while her arms around his neck as she places her head on his shoulder.

He wraps his arms around her.

"Im sorry darling, I didnt mean to leave you alone. You forgive me don't you. " he whisper completely forgeting the audience behind him.

Sofia nods her head sleepily not caring anymore. The pain had disappeared and that was all that mattered.

Lucian walks back into the conference room with a sleeping Sofia in his arms. The sight was very much unusual to his subjects as they watch him carry the little girl in his arms.

He moves to sit down with Sofia still fast asleep in his arms.  "Now any ideas." He says looking around.

The room remained silent as they looked at the sight before them.

This angered him. They eyes were more at the girl in his arms then at him.

"Do not be suprised when i remove your eyes. They are too oftenly dirfting where they shouldnt." He growls lowly in warning.

Each eye that was looking at Sofia snaps back to look at Lucian instead.

"Now can we get back to planning, i would like to put her to bed as soon as possible."
