"Mate" They both whispered gazing into each others eyes.
Sofia smiles as she sees the two. She was happy that at least one of them found their mate but sad that it wasn't her.
Walking backwards slowing, so she doesnt alarm River, she leaves the two to their mingling and heads to the buffet table.
She had been eyeing the chocolate cake that was there.
She took a plate and cut herself a huge slice of the cake and took a huge bit savoring the fluffy and creamy goodness.
It made her momentary forget her problems: the itch of her dress, the slight pain of her hair and the biggest one of all, not finding her mate.
But alas, happiness must come to an end or it wouldn't be worth much.
The cake finished and her problems came crashing down. She was all alone in the big ball room her only friends busy with her mate and Cookie fast asleep in her room.
She wanted to make more friends but the last time she tried that with Kimberley and Ariana back home they just called her names and left and so from there she was afraid.
She could feel herself growing lonely as she looked around the room, people happy with either their mates or friends.
She was once again unaware that she was being watched by the man in the shadows.
The king dressed in his usual dark clothes, blending with the darkness he called home.
He was hidden by the colons near the front entrance, he had just come back from a meeting with his second who came back from the high mountains of Vakafa, the place where the vampires dwelt.
His second Kaden had reported that there was not action or movement on the Vampires side although that was good news it left Lucian suspicious.
He continued to gaze at Sofia, who looked not so happy, she had chocolate crumbs and cream all over her pouted, frowning lips.
Today she looked different in terms of her dressing, she look uncomfortable and unhappy making him frown.
He wanted to approach her, mess with her a little but he decided no to, not yet.
His gaze shifts to the large windows as he felt a shift in the atmosphere. Something was coming.
No second later a figure comes crashing into the window making everyone scream.
The room once filled with joy was now fill with terror and chaos, some people were making their way out of the ball room while some stayed behind either screaming, or out of curiosity.
The king made his presents known as he nears the figure he had concluded to be a vampire.
The vampire stood tall and proud looking around the fear glazed room.
"Vampire!" People whispered and muttered ro each other.
They watched as the King makes his way towards the broken window where the Vampire stood.
"You Vampires and your dramatics, the front door would have been sufficient." The King says calmly to the Vampire infront of him.
His voice echoed through the walls of the ball as it was deadly silent.
"And risk being killed by the guards, i think not." The Vampire smirks cockily. He had messy black hair and was dressed in black. His skin was pale which contrasted to his dark eyes and dark being.
"Surely you must not think being killed by me would be all the less painful do you?" The king muses. He would have a bit of fun before killing the vampire for ruining his party.
"I am very well aware of your terrors King of the Dark, i do not expect anything short of impalement from you." The Vampire says with a smile.
"So pray tell, why must you risk your life and those in it by coming here." The Kings questions. He was quite enjoying the banter.
But he'd enjoy the kill afterwards.
He was aware that his people were gazing upon him and the Vampire, he loved the fear radiating upon them and he would make sure that their fear was not misplaced. They only fear him no one else.
"Wouldn't you like to know." The Vampire laughs wanting to rile the King up.
And riled he was.
"Guards!"
The guards make their presents known and grab the Vampires arms holding him still.
"I am bored of this banter, you must die now." Lucian says once he got his agitation in place and his calm exterior on.
The guards drag the Vampire who started laughing manically.
"Do not kill me before you hear this mutt King, He will get his revenge. He is coming for you and everything you hold dear. Do not forget this when you kill me." The Vampire yells as he gets dragged to the entrance.
He laughs louder and struggles on the hold of the guards.
"DO NOT GET TOO COMFORTABLE IN YOUR DARKNESS FOR IT WILL NOT KEEP YOU SAFE THIS TIME!" The mad man of a Vampire yells once more before silence fills the room.
The king not bothered by the threat turns to the crowd.
"Go on! Party! Drink! Eat! Find your mates, do not let this hinder your happiness." He says to the crowd.
For a moment his gaze locks with Sofia who had been watching the whole ordeal.
Her eyes were filled with fear just as the rest of the crowd.
Tearing his gaze from her, the king walks out of the room.
