An hour or so later the girls were still conversing at least not until the room darkens and a figure enters. It was the King.
Both girls cower in fear, Sofia whimpers as she quickly grabs Cookie to protect him from the evil man.
"Out." The king says referring to River, she didnt move but when she caught the kings glare she kissed Sofia on the cheek whispering encouragements and rushes out.
Sofia still had cake covered all over her lips, her dress, her hands and now Cookie.
"I. Am. Sorry." He says stiffly sounding each word while looking anywhere but the girl in front of him. His mate.
"Its okay" Sofia whispers, her voice shivering in fear.
"NO!" he exclaims startling her and making her shift backwards.
He hated to see fear in his mates eyes.
"I mean, no its not okay, i almost killed you, i, i hurt you and that is not okay." He finally locks his eyes with Sofia who looks at him with fear still.
Sofia could see the guilt, it was loud and clear but she didnt trust him.
"I promise you from this day i will treat you as a mate should, with care, i ho-" Before he could finsh Sofia cuts him off.
"You are not my mate." She says factually but softly in fear of being yelled or hurt.
Lucian could feel the rejection seeping through him.
"I-i" he stutters, something he never does as his speech is always of confidence.
"I have a mate already, I've met him, he is nice, much nicer then you." Sofia says but whispers the last part. Lucian heard it though.
It hurt him, how his mate feared him, how he hurt his mate. He'd never forgive himself.
"I'm sorry." Luician whispers sadly looking down. Oh how the mate bond has humbled him.
"I promise you that if i had known you were my mate i would not have hurt you." Lucian continues as he tried to justify his actions.
"I am not you mate." Sofia says, she didnt want to believe that the nice wolf that she met the other day, who played with her and made her feel good could be this evil man.
Lucian sighs in frustration and moves closer to Sofia who whimpers and trys to move back.
Once Lucian was standing close to Sofia he reaches out his hand to touch her. His heart breaks even more so when she flinches.
He touches her cheek softly as he removes the chocolate from her cheeks. The tingles, the sparks she felt them all, they both did.
The sparks felt like those of the wolf she met last time, the wolf that was her mate.
She was frozen staring up at him, she didnt know this but her hand was leaning against the hand on her cheek, she didnt know this but her eyes were glazed with care all because of the bond.
Her eyes water as she snaps out of her daze, he was her mate and he was evil.
"Im sorry." Lucian whispers as he notices her watering eyes.
"Im sorry." He repeats over and over and over until a tear drops out of her eyes, he quickly wipes it.
He places his forehead on her ignoring her flinch and continues whispering his regret. "I do not deserve to be your mate but i can not let you go, im sorry that i can't, im sorry that you have me as a mate." Lucian whispers, begs only for her ears.
For if they see their king weakened by the bond, they will take her away before she even forgives him or at least trys too.
Sofia could feel the bond making her want to forgive him but she just couldnt, she was too scared, too fearful.
All this pain was too familiar to her, she had too many scars, what Lucian did poked at the scars making them ache. He brought back things that she had forgotten, things her brain made her forget as a way to protect herself.
"You forgive me, sweetheart, you forgive me don't you." Lucian coos. His eyes begging.
Sofia nods, she didnt want to make him upset especially with the desperate look in his eyes.
"Well don't, i still haven't earned it yet. I promise that i will spend the rest of my life trying to earn your forgiveness." And with that he places a kiss on her forehead making her shiver.
"Get some rest." He whispers then leaves.
Sofia was left with her thoughts and shes never been more at war with them.
