You were shaking a little as you scanned your hand in the panel on the huge egg fortress. You were nervous as it was so late, you were wondering what words your dad would have to say to you if he caught sneaking around like this. The door opened for you and you let yourself in, pleased he hadn't seen you so far, but that was where your luck ended as he was standing there at the entrance, arms folded, foot tapping and a stern look on his face. You gasped as you caught sight of him.

"Pushing it, aren't you, (y/n)?" He said suspiciously.

"D-dad!" You put your hand to your chest and tried to get your breathe back. "You scared me"

"You've been sneaking around a bit recently" He eyed you in suspicion.

"I'd hardly call it that, i'm a teenager, i'm free to go out when i want" You rolled your eyes at him.

"The world isn't a safe place, or at least it won't be when it's mine" He chuckled evilly. 

"I was just out with some friends" You grunted and tried to walk past him but it was clear to you that he didn't want that.

"Your friends, eh? Well you really must invite them over sometime" He said slyly, hoping to trap you.

"Uuugh, like they'd really wanna still be friends with me when they learn i live in an actual fortress, just leave me alone, Dad" You sighed.

"Really? Well i wouldn't worry about that, i'm sure your "friends" already know where you live as they've trashed this place a hundred times" He responded as he was now beginning to lose his temper.

You gasped and turned your neck a full 180 backwards. "What are trying to say?" You approached him and glared at him, sounding a whole lot more confident than you felt.

"I'm saying that your little friends are reckless party animals" He said sarcastically. " Animals being the operative word. I know what you're up to, (y/n), you've been sneaking around with Sonic and his miserable friends!"

"WHAT?!?"

" And what's more is you've been supplying them with help! Every time you sneak off, their little village is back up and thriving after my attacks! I want you to stay away from that insipid hedgehog! " He demanded but this was too much for you.

"Sonic is a hero! " You cried out in defence of your friend.

"Ah hah! That's as good as a confession! Go to your room, now! And don't come out till I say so!" He commanded angrily and you felt you could melt to the floor as you miserably and unwillingly obeyed.

"Defying your own father like that! Imagine it, all for the sake of a blue porcupine" he muttered in annoyance and wandered off to his lab as you went to your room.

As you were traipsing upstairs, you thought back at the events of this evening with a weak smile.

[Flashback a few hours earlier]

You had successfully managed to make up some excuse to leave your home and get out here. Your dad didn't know, or so you thought, that you were here in the village. Kids were out playing and they all stopped when they saw you coming and ran to hug you.

"(y/n)! Cried Charmy as you embraced the little bee. "What are you doing here?"

" I brought some stuff for you all, here, take this" You smiled and have him a chocolate bar.

His eyes lit up as he snatched it out of your hand and greedily devoured it. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

" There's plenty more where that came from" You winked and got up. "Knuckles! Amy!" You cried and hugged your friends.

"Hey, (y/n)! What's up, girl? " Amy said cheerfully. 

"I've come bearing gifts" You smiled as you unloaded all the essentials out your bag. "I'm sorry for what my dad did to your village" You scratched the back of your neck awkwardly.

"It's no big deal, Eggman is no match for us! Besides, we can put up with him as long as we have you"

 "Aww" You smiled but then you turned away when you noticed someone. Sonic!

"Sonic!" You rushed to greet him.

"(y/n)!" He cried out with joy and caught you in his arms as you threw yourself on him and embraced his blue form.

"I haven't seen you since the strike, how have you been?" He spoke softly to you.

"I've been pretty well, considering my dad tried to destroy all my friends" You chuckled though it sounded forced as you felt angry at the thought of what your father was doing and just how wrong he was.

"I know, (y/n), but chill ,don't think about eggman, you're nothing like him, thankfully. You're kind and sweet, you're a saint" He smiled sweetly and you felt the heat rising to your cheeks.

"I know, it's just..." You turned your head away and looked sad.

"What is it?" He asked, looking worried.

"I just we weren't a secret, you know, me and you. I just wish he could be happy for us. I love you, Sonic"

"I love you too, (y/n)" He smiled and you both embraced and kissed at that moment.

"I have to be going home now" You quickly flinched and let go of his hands.

"What? You're not gonna stay for dinner?" He asked, looking disappointed.

"I really can't, my dad will grow suspicious if I'm out this late, please, i just wish things were different"

"Hey" He grabbed your hands and looked deeply into your (e/c) eyes. "They will be, soon" He said in a voice that was unusually serious for him.

All you could do was to trust him and pray that things would change.
