You were battling Robotnik with the rest of the freedom fighters. The resistance had held him off for hours now, but now everyone was starting to get worn out. He had attempted to destroy a nearby village, but you and your friends got there as soon as you got the word and now there was smashed robots everywhere.

"(y/n)" Sonic, your boyfriend called over to you.

"Yeah?" You answered as you dodged another robot and destroyed it.

"I don't know how much longer we can hold out, so i want you to call for help"

"Who do you want me to call for?"  You asked.

"Just whoever's available, and do it fast!"

"I'll be quick as you!" You grinned and rushed off to call for some more back up.

"I'd doubt that" He joked. It was his positivity that you loved about him, just how he always managed to stay optimistic during any situation. You hated to leave him like this, but you knew that you two couldn't do this alone and you were facing a full-blown army of robots.

You held them off for about twenty minutes and then you heard a voice you knew very well.

"Someone call for backup?" You turned around saw Knuckles standing there, grinning, along with Tails and all the others.

"Oh, thank goodness you're all here" You said, panting as you were weary and out of breath.

"Tails! What's up, buddy?" Sonic cried and turned his attention to his bestie. Robotnik saw that he was distracted and took the opportunity to fire a missile at him.

"Sonic! Look out!' The young fox cried. Sonic turned around and gasped, but he had run out of rings, and when Tails tried to pass him one, he tripped and dropped it.

"Aaagh!" He cried out in pain as it hit him.

"SONIC!" You screamed in horror as you ran over and bent down to check on him. "What's wrong with him?" You asked as a tear escaped from your eye.

"We need to get him to a hospital, quick!" Said Knuckles as he hoisted the hedgehog onto his strong shoulders. "You guys, finish off here" Knuckles instructed and the rest of the freedom fighters obeyed and fought even harder now that Sonic was down.

You were sitting in the waiting room of the hospital, sick with nerves as you worried what might've happened to him. Tails and Knuckles were also there with you. A doctor finally came out of the room that Sonic was in and you jumped out of your seat to question him about what was going on.

"Oh, doctor, is he okay? He is alive?" You asked without giving him time to answer.

"Well" The doctor started and looked at some medical files before looking at you again. "Yes, he is alive, but the missile being launched and hitting him so close to his heart has triggered a cardiac arrest"

"A WHAT?!?" Everyone turned around in shock.

"Wha-well what does this mean for him?" You held back tears as you asked.

"He's in a great deal of pain right now, would you like to see him?" The doctor offered and none of you could refuse as you all leapt at the chance.

"Yeah, we would!"

"Very well, come with me" You all entered the room where he was lying there in the hospital bed. It pained you all to see him like this.

"Well, i think i should tell you all now" The doctor paused as he had something serious to say. "There's nothing we can do for him. The only way to save him is to roboticize him"

You all turned around and gasped in shock. 

"What?"

"That's not fair!" Tails protested.

"Maybe so, but it's the only way. Now he can only have one visitor in now"

You looked at Tails and Knuckles and they knew you would want time alone with him and so they offered their condolences to their blue friend and left.

"Stay strong, bud"

"You'll make it through this!"

It was just you and Sonic left. You felt your heart break as you sat there at his bedside, watching him. It hurt you to see someone, usually so spirited, down like this.

"So, (y/n), you heard the doc? I'm gonna be roboticized soon" He spoke softly to you.

"Oh, Sonic, it's so unfair!" You sobbed but then wiped the tears away from your eyes and tried to be strong for him.

"(y/n)...i just want to ask, will you still love me? Is that why you're sad?"

"Oh, Sonic! I can't believe you'd think that of me! I'd love you no matter what! Robot or not, I'd still love you! I always will and i want to know that" You squeezed him hand as you spoke this to him. "I'm just saddened to see the very thing you fought against for years happening to you! It just doesn't seem right"

"Aww, don't worry about that. I'll be fine! You know Robuttnik will never win. We'll still keep fighting, we will stop him one day, you just gotta have a little faith"

You just talked with him until you had to leave. You were still worried about him, but you knew that he was right and you just hoped he would be okay.
