By February, the worst of the winter would be over. The snow would thaw, the rivers begin to run, and the world would wake into itself again. Not that year. Winter hung there, like an invalid refusing to die. Day after grey day the ice stayed hard; the world remained unfriendly and cold. However, it didn't seem all that bad to me. I walked beside my boyfriend, with a thick scarf wrapped around my neck. Okinawa has always been warm. In fact, the usual winters are around sixty degrees Fahrenheit. Which was around fifteen Celsius. In any case, the winter weather had reached as low as twenty degrees, or negative six, if that is to one's fancy.
"Langa, do you think the snow will melt soon?" I questioned, smiling up at the male. He nodded his head, as we continued to walk. "I've always loved winter weather. You know, like making snow angels, attempting to build igloos, skiing, snowboarding, all of that. If we ever go to Canada together, you have to teach me how to snowboard, okay?" I turned to face him, as a small grin covered his cheeks. Langa Hasegawa and myself had been dating since the fall, and honestly, it's been really nice. Each day, I wake up knowing that Langa was going to be at school, or at the skatepark.
Opening my eyes, I woke up early. Incredibly early. I jumped out of bed with great vigor, before making two bento boxes. As I was waiting for the rice to soften, a couple pings popped up from my phone. They were from Reki.
Rocket:
Hey! Everything ready for 2day?
(Y/N):
Yeah, I'm making a bento right now 😊
Did you get him a gift?
Rocket:
Totally. You?
(Y/N):
Yup! You're going to distract him right?
Rocket:
Actually...
Change of plans
You distract him
(Y/N):
>:0
What?! Why me?!!
Suddenly, a knock resonated off of my front door. Placing down my phone, I looked through the peephole to see the boy me and the red-head were talking about. Breathing in a large quantity of air, I opened the door. "Good morning, Langa! Um... what brings you here so early?"
"I wanted to spend the day with my girlfriend. Is that wrong?" Langa queried, tilting his head to the side with a pout. 'He's too pretty for me...' I thought, before allowing him inside the house. Langa darted right for the kitchen, as I followed close behind. The blue-haired male took a couple bits out of the bento I made for him before I shooed him away.
"Langa!" I whined, attempting to push him away from the bento box. "You aren't supposed to eat it yet!" I pushed against his chest, keeping him away from one of the things he loves more than myself. He stopped reaching for it, before he caught my attention.
"Yet?" He questioned, as I took my hands off of him bashfully.
"I was making you a bento box before you came. I thought you would have appreciated it... but you ruined the surprise." I huffed childishly, before smiling up at the blue-haired male. He returned the expression, before placing my hands in his own. He drew closer to my form, before staring down into my eyes with his partially closed ones, "... Langa?" Suddenly, the oven timer went off, drawing both of our attentions to it. Letting go of his hands, I grabbed some oven-mittens, before taking fries out of the oven.
"Fries?" He asked, as I checked the gravy on the stove top. I swirled it around lovingly, before grabbing a spoon. Filling the silver, I brought it up to Langa's lips. He sipped it, letting out a quick hum. "It tastes good. But what is it for?"
