The still sound of nothing going on continued to echo through her ears as she woke up, finding herself surrounded by machinery and metals. She slowly tried to sit up, but found some straps holding her in place, almost as though she was a prisoner. Her instincts told her to fight and run, to try to find some way of escape, but at the same time she felt tired of running. Almost like there was a will inside her that was telling her to stay and to keep cool.
"You're awake." A voice cried
She jerked and looked around in all directions, but being strapped down limited her view of the voice. "Please, don't hurt me. I want to leave, please." Unexplained fear filled her, but she had no idea why. "I just want to go home." As soon as the words left her mouth she quickly shut her mouth and shut her eyes, remembering that she didn't even know where her home was.
"I wish just as much as you do to send you home, but there is someone who wishes first to speak with you."
"What could you possibly want from me?" She cried, anger, fear, stress, and confusion continued to flood her head. Tears started to flood her eyes as she realized how lost she was. She really didn't know anything. It seems whatever was pulling her memories had won. If they really wanted to ask her questions they really wouldn't get much of anything. Whether they wanted to hurt her or help her. She tried to wipe her eyes free of the tears, but remembered that she couldn't really even move. If they were keeping her hostage, clearly they were not there to be nice.
It felt like hours had passed when she finally heard voices outside of the room she was in, but it wasn't clear enough to understand what they were saying. She wanted them to just torture her already, give her the punishments that they had planned out for her, once it was over, would she then be able to relax and try to ignore it a little bit easier.
Heavy footsteps sounded as it seemed like people were coming into the room around her. She felt terrified. How many people were in the room? Why couldn't they have left her alone?
"Ratchet, if you would please remove her bounds. We don't want her to feel uncomfortable." A deep, baritone voice said. The voice sounded familiar, but no matter how hard she tried to remember anything, the memories never came. When she realized the bounds were released, she quickly sat up and the sight she saw before sent her falling off the bed as she had backed away. She managed to grab the ledge of it before she crashed onto the floor that she realized was so far down below her. A large hand grabbed her from off the ledge and placed her back onto the same bed that she had been laying on.
"Please, let me go. I don't want to be here." She cried as she looked at 5 giant robots in front of her. One robot was orange and white, another was red and blue, one was black and yellow, one was large and green, and there was a skinny and blue one as well. Along with three humans among them sitting on top of the shoulders of the last three she looked at. The humans looked like they were mere teenagers.
"We just want some answers." The red and blue one said.
"Well, I am sorry to disappoint you, but I won't be able to help you with your questions." She shook her head sadly while she looked away.
"She is one of MECH isn't she." The human girl sitting on the bulky green one seemed to say in disgust.
"I am sorry, but I don't know anything about mechanics." Why was this girl talking weird? Was she trying to call her a mechanic? She didn't know anything about machines other than that they are made of metals and wires.
"I was not talking about mechanics. I was talking about..."
"Miko..." The blue and red robot seemed to be turning to her, almost like he was warning her. "Who are you and why were you being attacked in the desert?"
"That is where you found me? In a desert?" She asked, everything seemed so strange. She tried to think, fighting to recollect any memory of her being in a desert, but when she tried to think her head started to pound heavily. She crouched down with her head in her hands, not even caring for what they thought of her. "I just want to be alone." She cried.
"Do you have a designation?"
"You want what?" Did he really ask one of the questions that she was dreading? How was she supposed to tell him her name when as far as she knew, she didn't have one, or if she did she didn't remember it.
"Your name, do you have a name we can call you by?" The orange and white robot asked her, in a tone that seemed far from friendly.
"Even if you were willing to help me out or work with me, you wouldn't believe me if I told you the truth. So why would I bother to give you my name? That is if I even have one in the first place."
"You mean to tell us that you don't even remember if you have a name?" The skinny blue one asked, almost like she was hissing
"I said you wouldn't believe me." She sighed. Why don't they just torture her already? What were they waiting on? "You know what, just make your decision already. What are you gonna do? Whip me? Use a gun? Electrocute me? Whatever form of torture it is that you plan to use on me, just do it already." She cried, turning her head away from the audience that seemed to surround her from all directions. She expected the pain to come, but when she looked up, she found that they all had left her alone. She wanted to leave, to escape, to never come back to whatever this place was. While they were distracted, she climbed down off the table and ran out of the room. She was determined to find some way of escape, to leave all the memories behind, just like how they continued to leave her. She saw all the robots and the three humans standing by a large circular machine. She was curious what it could be, but no matter what she wanted out. She saw an elevator that looked like a possible way out, so while they weren't watching her, she ran up the stairs that lead to the elevator.
"She is escaping!" Miko cried.
She quickly turned and saw all of them looking at her, without hesitation, she ran into the elevator and had it shut behind her. As it climbed up, she found herself outside near what looked like a helicopter landing pad and tons of desert surrounding the area. The only way that she could escape would be by climbing down the rock that she found herself standing on top of. As she reached the edge of the cliff, trying to analyze where to climb, or if there was any other way of escape, she heard doors open behind her to find the blue and red robot standing behind her along with a tall human teenager running towards her. She quickly crouched down and started to climb down the side of the rock as fast as she could, but still safely.
As she climbed she saw the robot come over to the edge and was looking down right at her. "Please, we don't mean any ill will. We can talk and discuss your future plans together if you want to leave so badly."
"No, you want to hurt me." She cried, not bothering to look up at him. She continued to climb down till she felt her grip slip and she couldn't do anything, but watch as she fell toward the ground that was far below her. Before she could react she found a large, cold hand grabbing hold of her as she was free falling. Shaking in fear, more of the robot than of the fall, she looked up seeing the blue and red robot hanging on the edge with his hand holding firm, while the rest of him hung from the ledge with her in his hand. The robot seemed to hold her against his chest as he pulled himself over the ledge and back onto the roof, standing firmly with her in his hand.
As much as she was afraid of him, she still couldn't help questioning why he chose to save her. Surely she was going to receive a punishment, not only for trying to escape, but for back talking and not listening to his comment earlier. Before she could respond, the robot seemed to quickly change shape, she watched as the metal around her seemed to cage her up like an animal. She was terrified at the change. Where did the robot go? Was this still the robot? She found herself sitting in what seemed to be a car or vehicle of some sort. She started to freak out and rushed toward the car door to find that it was locked shut and there was no way for her to unlock it. She sat there against the seat in the car and the door, curled up with her head on her knees. This was her punishment, to be treated like a caged animal.
"I am sorry, but seeing as you are willing to risk the safety of your own well-being out of fear leaves me no choice, but to lock you up in our base. You will be on constant watch to make sure your well-being is being taken care of." The vehicle seemed to speak. "Jack, let's head back down to the others. They will be wondering what is going on."
She looked out the window and saw a boy give a thumbs up. "I will meet you both down there."
"Why didn't you let me fall? Why would you care if I got hurt or not?"
"Because every living being deserves a chance in life, even if they don't believe they do. I do not believe in the harm of innocent human beings." The car replied. It started to drive forward to where she saw the giant elevator in front of her. It looked like it was specifically made for transporting vehicles. "Why do you not believe in trusting me? Do you really think I would want to harm you?"
"I don't know. I don't remember anything other than after I woke up. I just have this feeling that I can't trust. I don't know how to explain it." She mumbled, why was it even though she was terrified, that she still willingly spoke up to him. "You don't believe me, do you? That I don't remember anything. I am afraid that I will only cause you more problems and give you reasons to want to punish me."
"I don't know for sure whether or not you are telling the truth. You seem to act genuine, but until we know more about you, we can't risk the safety of ourselves in your hands, especially when you know the location of us and where our base is." The voice replied. It sounded like he had also sighed in the process.
"So I will be your prisoner until I prove that you guys can trust me?"
"No, for now you will be our guest, you will have your own room and you will be provided for, but you will not be allowed to leave for your safety and for everyone else's." As the elevator opened in front of them, she saw the car door open next to her. Unsure what to do she looked at the ground below her till she heard him grunt. "I need you to hop out."
"Oh, sorry." She felt humility flood her face. She felt like she was dumb that moment when she slowly climbed down, out of the truck. She saw all the robots and the three humans were now looking at her, and a majority of them seemed to be angry. The car transformed back into the red and blue robot. The robot looked down at her briefly before looking over at the others and walking toward them, but he turned and looked at her as though he was waiting for her to follow him. Hesitantly she took a small step forward, but as soon as she did an alarm went off. She quickly jerked and threw her arms over her head in fear. Was something happening? Was she going to get hurt?
"Agent Fowler always seems to have the worst timing." The green bot mumbled, but she was still able to hear him clearly. Who was this Agent Fowler? Was he here to capture her? She still was unsure what to believe about the blue and red robots words that he told her up in the elevator when they were headed down. The alarm shut off pretty quickly and she saw a man come out of the elevator and he didn't look happy at all. He had a facial expression that seemed annoyed, maybe even angry. "Who the heck is that?" She saw the man was staring right at her. She started to back away from him to find the same blue and red robot walking up to the platform that he was standing on. "She will be with us for a while. We saved her outside the base to find her being intercepted by MECH. We have no idea who she is or what MECH wanted to do with her."
"You mean to tell me that MECH has now found where your base is?" Agent Fowler cried out, he was furious. His glare turned toward her and she read full on military off of his face. She saw a hallway near her and took off running down it in fear. She saw one of the robots was running after her with a determined look on her face, but was stopped by the blue and red robot that held her back with a hand on its shoulder. "Arcee, let her be alone for a minute. There is nowhere for her to escape to."
She didn't bother to look behind her as she ran and found herself sitting in a corner of the hallway, where it looked like it turned back toward the main room. She sat there crying until eventually she fell fast asleep. Not caring what happened to her or what was going on in the main room.
