Chapter IX

Julie sat on a beam that was above them, but not too high up that the robots couldn’t reach. They were all waiting patiently for Agent Fowler to come back. She had made it clear to everyone that she wanted him there as well to answer any questions he had as well, which from the video call that Ratchet had made, was a lot of questions. It was about 3 hours later before the proximity alert finally went off, letting everyone know that Agent Fowler had finally arrived back at the base. She glided down to the platform where the elevator was as they waited for him to come down from the roof. The elevator beeped and opened up, revealing an upset man staring right at her.
“Agent Fowler.” Julie acknowledged with a nod.
“Alright, let's get this show on the road, I want some answers.” Agent Fowler replied.
“I am pretty sure you all want answers, which is why I wanted everyone present so I do not have to repeat myself. For as you may already know, my story is longer than your life and the children combined.” She commented as she glided over to where the children were sitting on another platform. Once Agent Fowler was sitting on the couch with the children, she sat down on the railing, where she was able to see all of the robots and all the humans as well. All eyes were officially on her. “So, who’s first?”
“How the heck did you know the rattlesnake was going to bite Miko?” Raf cried out.
“What were you doing outside?” Miko yelled out.
“Why did you say millions of lives would die if Bulkhead shot you?” Arcee asked.
“I think it would be a lot more efficient if you started with your name and the beginning of your story.” Optimus butted in, stopping everyone else from throwing questions out randomly.
Julie merely nodded as she sat there. “I understand.” She sat there and took a deep breath and sighed before she started. “In this world, there are many names that I have been called by. You guys know me as Julie, because my memories had been destroyed by MECH, but my name by birth is Ethera, and I am not human. The closest comparison to what I am would be that of a fae.”
“Hey, that was what Raf called you.” Bumblebee blurted out.
“I told you, she looks just like one with her wings.” Raf replied.
Julie cleared her throat in front of them as she tried to get their attention. “Oh, sorry.” Raf cried out, along with Bumblebee. “As I was saying, the fae is the closest thing by description to what I am. I am merely what one would probably call a spirit of nature. I can hear the voices of the earth and the creatures that inhabit it. Whereas I also am able to control the weather, and natural forces of the earth. Where there used to be many of my kind, I am now the last.
“I also have the power of healing. A majority of my power comes from water, but the other part of my power comes from the nature around me, including the stars. How my kind came to be on the earth, that answer I do not know, for my kind were being hunted by an evil. A force of complete darkness that lived and ruled this earth during its youth. It wiped out many of my kind, along with humanity who were lost to their own minds of evil. Humans saw us as a chance for power, and tried to capture us for their own will, where other humans feared us as a creature of death and destruction. Killing many of my innocent brethren. My own parents, being lost by the very same evil that still tries to hunt me down to this day.
“As for how this earth relies on me, well it has been rumored from the beginning of my kind that as long as we live, the earth will also. If we are to die and be wiped off the face of the earth, it is said that the universe will destroy the earth and wipe out any sign of life on it. I have no way to know for certain the truth of this prophecy, but I do know that I have seen the signs of the earth struggling during my darkest hours. During the hours where I myself thought I would end up joining my own brethren in the stars. Or that is where I believe that they lie.” Julie sat there and looked down. “Now as for how I knew the snake was by Miko, it was just pure instinct. I felt inclined to turn around and when I saw the snake by her, I knew I had to stop it.”
“Why were you outside in the first place?” Miko asked.
“I was outside because I was hoping to get some answers. Sometimes a voice comes to me from the sky and gives me instruction, but not this time. At the same time I haven’t really seen the outside world in 30 years. MECH had captured me with the new equipment that they have made. Somehow they were able to find me when I was distracted, and they took my one friend I have had with me since I was little.”
“That was why you were asking about Midnight.” Agent Fowler commented. Julie simply nodded. “He is the one who has been with me through everything, until now.”
“How was it that your appearance was different from before to now?” Ratchet asked.
“Through the power of water I can transform into whatever I want, as long as I have enough. Water is a form of purity. It has the power to mean the difference between that of life and death.” Julie replied.
“How did you escape MECH? If you couldn’t remember who you were, surely you couldn’t have simply escaped.” Jack asked.
“I waited for the right moment, when the men thought I was dead, I took the opportunity. I had to fake my death in order to escape. Through the help of abuse and tons of experiments, I finally looked like I was at my worst and that was when I used what strength I had, but I still lost my memories to a serum that they had injected into me in the process.”
“Can you show us these powers that you have?” Optimus asked as he looked like he was thinking through everything.
“You guys got any more water?” Miko reached into a bag nearby and pulled out a half full bottle of water. As soon as she tossed it the lid on the bottle came off and the liquid glowed a cerulean color. The water flew towards Julie as it circled around her. She stood up and raised her hands where the water started to collect, but it looked like the water was growing. Spreading her wings above her, she took off at full blast up above the heads of the autobots and they watched as just a little bit of water turned into what looked like a roaring wave behind her. The water surrounded Julie and a bright light emitted from it till they saw a robotic femme standing over them with a little bit of water remaining that was circling around her waist. The femme had a blend of the colors blue and a bright green along with small specks of pink here and there that were scattered along her body. She landed behind the other robots as the humans rushed toward the railing where they could see her better.
“You look like a real cybertronian.” Ratchet cried out. “It isn’t possible.”
“Yet I stand right in front of you.” Julie replied.
“Why were the kids terrified of the snake in the first place? Surely it was harmless, right?” Bulkhead asked.
“Bulkhead! That thing could have killed me.” Miko cried out.
“It seems there is more to learn about here on earth that we haven’t put into perspective.” Optimus replied. “How many other dangers are there?”
“You mean other than snakes?” Julie asked, “There are hundreds, but most of them are pretty easy to avoid if you know what you are watching out for.”
“Yet Miko just takes off after us in battle?” Ratchet asked.
“It seems that you owe Julie an apology, Bulk.” Jack said.
“What?” Bulkhead cried out.
“He is not the only one. It seems that we all owe her an apology. For assuming that she was a threat to us in the first place.” Optimus said.
“To think that the military may have been doing something questionable all this time.” Agent Fowler cried out. “How did we never suspect you were innocent?”
“Some humans choose to believe the worst and never take the time to look for the truth. Ignorance is a curse that haunts all human beings, whether it be one way or another.” Julie replied. The water surrounded Julie again, revealing the same girl from before, “Now if you don’t mind, I want to be alone for a few moments.” They all watched as she headed to the elevator and disappeared with the doors shutting behind her.
