Eventually the days in the Dickinsons' family villa passed and the girls found themselves in the car, driving towards Emily's apartment. The poet had leaned against the car's window and was deep into thoughts. Some songs were playing on the radio, and in Emily's mind as well. This often happened to her when she was thinking about something. Right now she was focused on Sue's reply. The girl never said she misses her. She only said they need to talk. But what did that mean, exactly? Should Emily prepare for another fight, or will they make up? That's what was keeping her restless. At one point Lavinia noticed her sister's uneasiness and decided to raise the question and address the blue elephant that they hadn't spoken about since they got in the car.
"Emily, what's wrong?" - Vinnie looked at her sister for less than a second while driving. Her sister sighed, still looking out the window.
"I wonder what she meant by all that "we need to talk" thing." - the brunette replied and another sigh followed. "Like, does she want to make up or quite the opposite?"
"I don't know how you can interpret her words as an invitation to a fight. I'm pretty sure it's not that." - Lavinia tried to comfort Emily.
"But... she didn't say she misses me which is what's bothering me. Maybe if she did, I wouldn't be so nervous."
"Normally I wouldn't say that, but... if you need to light up a cigarette, be my guest. It might take your mind off of Sue for a moment." - Lavinia replied, thinking that she might regret her words, but all she wanted was to help her sister. And she knew that cigarettes were the one thing that helped Emily in such cases, no matter how that sounded.
"Thank you, Vinnie." - Emily opened her Marlboro pack, pulled out a cigarette and lit it up after she opened the car window. She blew out smoke, trying to point it out of the car in order not to irritate Lavinia.
Silence settled between the two girls for the rest of the trip. Each one of them was thinking about something, although Lavinia was more focused on her driving.
After they got to the building where Emily lived, they saw a familiar someone standing there, by the front door of the building. Emily said a quick goodbye to her sister and left the car, closing the door on her way out. She rushed to the building and realized the person she thought was there really was who she thought it was. When she got the girl, she didn't really now what to say.
"Sue, I..." - was all that slipped out of her mouth.
"Just come here." - Sue replied and pulled Emily into a passionate kiss.
Their tongues quickly began dancing with one another, Emily's body being as close to Sue's as possible. The girls showed how much they missed each other in that kiss. In fact it meant everything to them. It seemed like they both had forgotten about the fight and wanted to start over. Emily broke the kiss to press her lips all over Sue's neck, not missing even one sensitive spot, but the singer took Emily's head in her hands, reattaching their lips once again. Both girls were hungry with desire and passion, and they didn't want this moment to be over, ever. Emily pinned Sue up against the door and deepened the kiss even more. At one point Sue's lower lip was between Emily's lips and the latter pulled on it, looking directly into the singer's eyes.
"I had imagined this moment ever since I left." - Emily said, making Sue smile. "But this is better than what I thought it would be." - Sue didn't say anything, she just kissed Emily again and maybe that was her answer. A few short-lasting kisses followed, before the girls finally broke apart.
"Emily..." - Sue started, still unable to catch her breath. "I realized the fight we had was stupid. I had time to think about it all and the conclusion is... I don't want to be away from you ever again."
"Never again." - was Emily's reply, and she leaned in to kiss Sue again, but the latter obviously had something more to say, so she pulled back.
"I wasn't finished." - she said. "I... thought about my career as well, and about how what we have is going to affect it. Turns out, I don't care. I want to be with you more than everything else and I won't let anything get in the way of it." - a wide smile appeared on Emily's face.
"What about your fans?" - the poet raised a brow.
"I guess they'll have to live with it." - Emily giggled. "Now... it's not so late, what do you think about a walk on the beach?"
"I love that idea." - the poet replied. "Just let me leave my luggage in my room."
"Okay."
