After Emily left, Sue sighed and held back the tears that wanted to come out. She really felt like crying, she felt hopeless and lost. But she knew exactly what she needed to do in order to make things right.

Emily on the other hand was confused. She was sure Sue had something to say to her and that she didn't mean for them to fight, which seemed to be the only thing they were doing lately. She had to put an end to that. But how?

After the poet left the bathroom, she spotted Wren in the crowd. He nodded at her and smiled softly. But she wasn't going to talk to him. Right now, all she wanted was to actually talk to Sue, but without the fighting part. As she was thinking about this, suddenly the room went dark and a spotlight lit the stage. Before that, Emily wasn't sure why the party was happening in a hall with a stage, but when Sue showed up on it, the poet was finally seeing things clear. Someone who looked like a host stood beside the singer, holding a mic.

"And now, Sue Gilbert, the reason we're all here, has a little surprise for a very special someone. You can take it from here, Ms. Gilbert." - the guy gave Sue the mic and everyone applauded and cheered. Sue was looking directly at Emily and soon started speaking.

"Some of you asked me whether there's someone new in my life. You asked me if I've found love. Well, I did. And her name is Emily Dickinson." - some of the people in the audience looked surprised. Sue looked at the poet again. "Emily, I love you with all my heart and I hope you feel the same way. Because all I want is to be with you. Nothing more, nothing less. And I know I'm not as good with words as you are, but you should know that what I'm gonna recite now comes straight from my soul. And I hope it touches yours." - at that moment Sue pulled out a sheet of paper from her pocket. "I wrote this poem for you."

"No one sees me for what I am.
Fire and ice.
One of them will win, but then
what will I become?

Will the cold
freeze my soul,
or will the fire
bring desire?

Will they stop before the gates
of my future, never taken,
never lived, but not forgotten?

Only you see me as I am.
A sip of truth, buried in the sand.
A piece of dream,
stuck in between.

But I see me for what I am not.
Faith and hope,
somewhere in the past
and the only way out
is a kiss that would last
on the chaos' mouth.

No one sees you like I do.
And if we ever make it through
the darkness and the cold,
just know that
my hand is only yours to hold." - was the poem Sue read. A few tears fell down her face and a lump settled in her throat.

The audience wondered if they should clap or not. Emily looked around and a few people were already looking at her. She gulped and went on stage, taking the mic from Sue.

"This was the most beautiful thing anyone's ever written for me. I love you too." - Emily said, crying, and hugged the singer as tightly as she could. Sue closed her eyes and gripped Emily even tighter. Now the crowd cheered and applauded, even Sue's parents weren't indifferent to this beautiful moment.

....

"This was wild." - said Sue after the last guests left the hall. Now the girls were all alone there. "I never thought I'd actually go through with this plan."

"Why?" - Emily raised a brow.

"I... didn't think you feel the same way. I didn't know what would happen." - Sue smiled softly, but the smile quickly faded.

"Oh, Sue..." - Emily put a hand on Sue's shoulder. "Why did you think I wrote that song I sent you while we were separated? I... was trying to tell you those beautiful words, but I can never put it quite the way that you did." - was Emily's reply. She was looking deep into the singer's eyes, looking like she wanted to kiss her.

"A poet being at a loss for words. I'll take that as a personal win." - Sue joked, making Emily laugh. They both sat on the stage, with their feet almost hitting the ground below it, feeling tired of standing up for so long.

"Hey!" - Emily nudged her lover's shoulder through laughter. "Well, anyway. I'm glad we finally made it to here. It's been a long ride."

"It sure was. With its bumps along the road, but... at least we know how to keep things interesting." - Sue said suggestively and looked at Emily.

"Hey. This isn't the end. We have a long way to go." - Emily replied and her face lifted a bit. After some silence, Sue spoke again.

"Emily. Kiss me." - was what the singer said. Emily didn't think twice.

A/N: Hey, guys! I haven't been around for quite a while. It's really been a minute since the last chapter, but just so you know, this isn't the end! Stay tuned.
