Emily still didn't know whether she'll go to the party or not. After all, Sue was gonna be there, along with all her friends and family. But the poet knew she still had to go, after all she is Sue's songwriter. But could she think of an excuse to not show up? No, because she hasn't given up on Sue yet. She wanted them to make up, but she wasn't going to be the one apologizing this time. Emily knew she had a point and she was stubborn, so she was going to wait for Sue to make the first move this time.

Sue on the other hand was devastated. She hasn't cried that much since her sister passed away a few years ago. She didn't know what to do now and how to handle things with Emily. She didn't want to lose her over something that stupid as her own inner prejudices regarding her family and friends. After all, she couldn't be sure they won't accept her for who she is, right? The singer decided she'll go to the only place where she felt wanted in a long time: the bar where she met Emily, so she did.

It's been a few hours since Sue and Emily had the fight. The singer was already properly dressed, so she just left her apartment and locked the door, got in a cab and was soon in front of the bar. She sighed before she got in.

The bar didn't have any customers which was probably normal for this time of the day. It was 10 o'clock in the morning after all and Sue was surprised it was even open, but then she saw a sign by the door on the inside that said the bar's working hours. And it said it won't open until 11, but then why was the door left open? Sue looked around to catch the bartender's eye, the same girl that flirted with Emily the last time they were here.

"We're closed." - Lavinia sighed, as she was wiping away the water of a glass, perhaps because she just washed it.

"I'm sorry. I just didn't know where else to go, so... can I stay? If it's troubling you I won't order anything." - Sue replied and sat at a stool, leaning forward on the bar.

"Emily told me what happened. I'm starting to think you're not the right girl for her." - Lavinia frowned.

"And who is, then? You?" - Sue said in the same manner. Lavinia scoffed.

"I'm her sister." - Sue looked very surprised by that answer.

"Then... why did you flirt with her?"

"It's a tactic she and I have. Whenever she's into a girl, she asks me to flirt with her to... well, to see if that girl is into her as well." - Vinnie explained. The singer looked down.

"So... she's into me?" - a sparkle awakened inside Sue's tired eyes.

"I'm not sure anymore. Your words did hurt her."

"But I'm in love with her." - the words just slipped out of Sue's mouth. Maybe that was how she really felt without realizing it.

"Don't say that to me, say it to Emily. She needs to hear it, I suppose." - Lavinia's voice was as tired as ever. Maybe she was exhausted from the night shift she had last night.

"You're right. I know exactly what to do. Thank you." - with that, Sue stood up and left the bar, without giving Lavinia the chance to say anything else.

...

Emily had smoked nearly a pack of cigarettes, thinking about what to do about the party and everything. There was a certain urge inside her, telling her to text Sue. But she wasn't going to. It was not her place to apologize.

"She can't just expect me to be there for her every time after a fight." - Emily said to herself and took a long drag on her cigarette. Still, Emily wasn't sure if she and Sue would even make up. She didn't know whether Sue was going to apologize at all. "Time will show everything." - with that, the poet finished her cigarette and stepped inside her apartment, closing the door to the terrace.

At that time, Lavinia called. Emily picked up the phone and pressed the green button on the screen.

"Vinnie? Hello, what's up?" - Emily asked. Lavinia was rarely one to call at this time, since at days like these, she was usually at work until late.

"Emily, hey. Guess who showed up at the bar." - Vinnie said through a slight whisper.

"Um, I don't know. Who?"

"Queen Cleopatra, who do you think?"

"Oh." - Emily sighed.

"It was your girlfriend. She misses you. And she's going to tell you something very important, so be sure to be there to hear it." - Lavinia replied.

"Well, did she tell you what that is?" - Emily raised a brow.

"You'll find out soon enough."

"There's a party tonight, she'll have enough time to say what needs to be said." - the poet sighed again.

"Just make sure to hear her out. Okay?" - with that, Lavinia hung up.

"Fucking hell..." - Emily said to herself through another sigh and leaned back to the wall. "Why does everything have to be so complicated?"

....

"Susie, the party is just great. I'm so glad you invited us." - Sue's mother said, holding a glass with a wide smile. Her husband was standing by her side. "I'm proud of you, my dear."

"Thank you, mother. By the way, how are things back in London?" - Sue asked and crossed her arms.

"Everything's going fine, but we do miss you. London is not the same without you." - Mrs. Gilbert caressed Sue's cheek.

"Whenever I'm on tour, I'll make sure to come visit you." - Sue put her hand on top of her mother's.

"By the way, rumors are spreading fast, even in London." - Mrs. Gilbert looked around to make sure no one is listening to their conversation.

"What rumors?" - Sue raised a brow.

"Word has it, you have someone new in your life. Some girl. Damien told us, but we think he's just making stuff up to make you look bad. Is that right, Susie?" - Mrs. Gilbert seemed upset, even though she was trying to hide it behind a soft smile.

"Oh, that guy. He's so pathetic. He just wants attention, try to ignore him." - Sue said, trying to keep her cool. On the other hand she hated it when people called her Susie. She felt like a 5 year old when that happened.

"Some people are like that." - Mrs. Gilbert sighed. "Me and your father are very glad you two broke up. He wasn't right for you."

"I guess."

....

Emily showed up to the party a bit late because she had a hard time picking an outfit that would suit the event. At the end she decided to wear a bright-blue dress which she wore at a movie premiere that she wrote almost all of the songs for. Yes, it was the kind of movie filled with original music, some sort of a blockbuster. Emily sighed when she saw her lover, or maybe ex lover, talk to two middle-aged people, probably her parents. In her mind, the poet pictured the lies that were probably coming out of Sue's mouth right now. She pictured the way she was saying she is single and she doesn't have anyone new in her life. Because, that were the sort of things parents usually ask you about, especially if they haven't seen you in a while.

"Do you need a drink?" - someone snapped Emily out of her thoughts. She turned around to see a waiter who was holding glasses of champagne on a silver platter. One fancy party this is.

"Yes." - Emily sighed, stealing another glance at Sue. "I sure do." - she took the glass in her hands, which made the waiter nod and walk away. "I sure do..." - the poet added, softly speaking to herself. At that moment Sue caught her eye, but quickly looked away.
