CHAPTER 33 (TW)

'Cha Eunwoo, the CEO of Mastermind Corp., was arrested this morning for an attempt of murder of Shin Ryujin, the infamous owner of Shin Corp. the investigator reported that Mr. Cha hired illegal assassins to break into the victim's penthouse and execute the young CEO.'

This might be the worst day for Yeji to turn on the TV. She can only freeze at the sight of the monitor showing Ryujin's and Taehyung's body being carried to the ambulances. Eunwoo got out of his house lowering his head and guarded by polices. He then entered a police car. Yeji turned off the TV.

"how dare you! You left me!" Yeji screamed out loud. "you're a liar. I waited for you. I give you time!"

Yeji ran to the bathroom, opened the mirror compartment. She took one piece of blade. Her hands shook, her vision blurry. She dropped down to the cold hard floor. She put the blade across her forearm. A slow drag of her hand, resulting a long scar on the other. One time, two times, she continued to hurt herself to distract the pain on her heart.

"Yeji!" Yuna arrived, panicking at what she saw. She quickly took a towel and wrapped it around Yeji's bleeding arm. Carefully, Yuna took away the blade and threw it on the trash.

"she left, Yuna. I should've been with her." Yeji hysterically cried in Yuna's arms. shaking uncontrollably. "I miss her so much."

"shhh... calm down." Yuna saw the news. "they're trying to save her. we can only hope for the best, okay? pray for her."

Yeji can only cry. Even if Ryujin survived, the thought of her being gone lingers in Yeji's mind.

Yuna helped her to stand up and guided her to her bedroom. She took care of her wounds and laid beside her.

"everything's gonna be okay. believe in her. you trust her, right?"

Yeji didn't say anything. She just hugged her bestfriend tightly.

While Yeji kept on blaming herself with the thought of Ryujin dying, the doctors and nurses were trying to safe Ryujin. Checking her vitals, pumping oxygen nonstop, as well as giving her blood transfusion. She lost a lot of blood on the way to the hospital.

"Ryujin?"

Ryujin walked towards her parents. Tall grass surrounding her and the view of light blue skies came into her vision. Without any hesitation, she hugged the two adults.

"why are you here?" Nayeon asked her. "you're supposed to be at work."

"I miss you, guys."

"we do too, kid." Jeongyeon caressed her head. "we're waiting for you."

"but not today. You still have a lot to do. One day, we'll meet again. When it's the time." Nayeon added.

"can I just go now? I wanna rest."

"we don't want you to. Your time is still ongoing. We want you to live happily with someone you love, dear. You have to understand what love is. We're sorry we couldn't show you." Jeongyeon kneeled to meet her eyes.

"we're losing her!" a doctor said as a long beep was heard.

They began to do CPR on the lifeless girl on the bed. Hoping to bring her back.

After a week, Yeji and Yuna stood beside a grave. Kim Taehyung. That's what's written on the tombstone. Not many people came since Taehyung got taken away and grew up in an orphanage. He's been supporting is own life by working with Ryujin.

"let's go, now." Yeji guided Yuna who's been crying for him.

They turned around and saw a girl on a wheelchair with another girl pushing it.

"Ryujin!" Yeji ran to her and hugged her. "I'm so glad you're okay. I missed you."

"hello?" Ryujin looked up at Yeji then to her nurse. "Somi. Who is she?"

"oh, I'm sorry. Miss Shin is having some sort of amnesia. May I know who you are?" Somi asked.

"I'm Hwang Yeji. I'm her... friend." Yeji looked down. "you... really... don't remember me?"

Yuna stood beside Yeji, rubbing her back.

"sorry. I don't know who you are. They said that my butler died. That's why I'm here." Ryujin then asked Somi to get her closer to the grave.

"I'm sorry, Yeji." Yuna lead Yeji to her car.

Ryujin is finally back home to her penthouse. all day all night, Somi took care of her. for some private stuff, Ryujin can manage. She kept thinking about the girl named Yeji that's suddenly hugged her. she kinda ignored it, though.

"I will be here until you're fully recovered. Is that okay?" Somi smiled at Ryujin.

"it's okay and um... how much should I pay you?" Ryujin asked. After the doctor diagnosed her with amnesia, they showed Ryujin her own profile to at least helped her to start living again.

"oh, it's up to you. The hospital paid me to take care of you. I don't think you need to." Somi sat beside her on the couch.

"I want to pay you. Tell me how much do you want." Ryujin insisted. "please call me Ryujin. I'm not used to the formality."

"alright, then. Ryujin. You don't need to pay me. I'm here to help you, okay?" Somi stood up to prepare some food for her. she opened the fridge but it's empty. "do you want me to buy you groceries?"

"if that's okay with you. I'm kinda hungry." Ryujin looked back at her.

Woof! Woof!

Ryujin and Somi looked at one of the rooms.

"you have a dog?" Somi walked quickly to open the door. She saw a dirty black dog and the room is wrecked with bags of dogfoods scattered on the floor. Seems like Hawk tried to look for food in the pantry he locked in.

"I have a dog?!" Ryujin stood up to quickly, causing her head to throb in pain. "ah..."

"it's okay, sit down." Somi wanted to pick him up but Hawk ran straight to Ryujin.

Hawk whined and barked at her for some moments. Ryujin just accepted the dog as if they already knew each other.

"do you remember his name?" Somi walked to them. Ryujin shook her head. "it's okay. I hope you remember everything, Ryujin." Somi grabbed her bag. "I will go out for a bit. You'll be okay alone, right?"

"I'll be fine. Thanks Somi."

Ryujin sighed at the dog. 'your name... I can't remember.' Ryujin thought.

"you kinda smell. You need a bath." Ryujin laughed at him happily.
