Pain Train and wooden doors.

I think it's absolute bullshit that ya can't pain train ya way threw a locked, barred, or chained door, specially the wood doors. It makes complete sense that if you are all suited up with Power Armor, ya should be able to bust your way threw that damn door

But nooo, you are your suit of X-01 power armor gotta crouched down lock pick that stupid door...:P

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a matter of fact, I know that a couple of the companions would more then love to dawn a suit of power armor and bust that damn wooden door down.

Cait, Danse(obviously), Strong(not like he needs power armor), X6, MacCready, and Deacon. I can see them literally yelling at for not ever using your suit to it's full potential and if they had the option to bust the door down they would take it.

Dammit now I'm itching to write a companion thing for this...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've also decided that this only works on wooden doors

Straight up, it's not always a guaranteed that you'll bust threw that locked door. Depending on the lock's difficulty, it would affect the chances of busting the door open.

Noice- 25% chance of failure.Advance- 50% chance of failureMaster- 75% chance of failure

Once ya fail, you'll lose the ability to bust the door open or lock pick your way through the door. Your character will say something like "it's not going to budge." Or "I've messed the handle up, I can't get through this." (The lock picking perk does not affect this btw, the chances are set in code)

As for a chained and barred wooden door? That would depend on your strength and endurance and luck. You'd need at least over 6 points in strength and 5 in endurance and a decent level in luck(over 5 tbh)

If you don't have either of these requirements then you'll take sever damage both to your body and your power armor and the door becomes a wall, can't lock pick it or anything. Luck comes into play here, if ya got 5 points in luck then it's a 50-50 on how bad you're damage will be. Less then 50 not that bad, more then 50? Hope ya got a lot of scrap.

I'm order for pain train to work you'd need a decent build up of momentum. A foot or two away form the door ain't gonna do it, at least 15 feet and yes you don't need to run facing it, you can run a corner and bust the door open or run backwards into it.

If you fail to bust the door open then you'll get thrown back and have to pick yourself back up. Busting the door leaves a chance that you'll stumble and fall over and take some damage(depends on your luck btw)

Oh and failure or success upon both of these will result in any enemies/NPC's around you to be alert and aware of you. Stealth can affect this but it will draw the attention of those to the door.

Don't recommend if you are trying to stealth.

As for the Companion's.

Everything mentioned before affects them here! So if they fail, that door is screwed.

You can command your companions to bust a door open as you would when you go to move them or ask them to lock pick something but they have to be wearing fully intact power armor.

Danse, Cait, and X6 are the only ones who do it on their own free will, aka, they have gotten fed up with you taking forever trying to open up the door and will bust the door down. Their is a timer/counter for how long it would take until they do such, Danse and X6's would much longer then Cait's.

As for the rest? They just wait until you either command them too or not. It's not like any of them are itching to get thier shoulder smashed into a door.

Strong has the ability to bust wooden doors open without needing power armor but everything still applies to him. He can fail.

If you happen to use pain train again a door then they'll say something. Here are some examples.

Nick- "So there's actual a brain in all that metal huh? Bout damn time you used it!"

Deacon- "what other secret abilities have you been hiding from me?!"

MacCready- "so glad you final decided to do that, I've been wondering what would happen if you let a heavy hunk of metal run full force into a wood door..."

And ofc they would have dialogue for when you fail.

Deacon- "you know what? Im going say it- that looked like that hurt a ton."

Danse- he's probably bitch about you needing to get back on your feet or that you need to take care of your power armor.

Codsworth- "mum/sir, I do wish that you would stop doing such irresponsible things."
