Right at 6:00pm we pulled up to the beach house. Both Hoseok and Yoongi's hearts skipped a beat. Namjoon went out to greet them. He could see the hesitation and fear on Y/N's face.
"Hey Y/N, are you okay?" He asked, while giving her a hug.
"Not really. I don't know how to greet them when I get inside. Normally, I would go straight to Hoseok because he's, my boyfriend. Now, everything is so confusing, I don't know what to do," I said, slightly shaking.
"Under the circumstances, I think they'll understand if you just say "Hi" to both of them."
"Okay, but when we sit down for dinner, can I please sit between the two of you?" I desperately looked at both of them.
Malia, coming to hold my hand, replied, "Sure, of course. Come on, let's go. I got your back."
When we entered the house, both Hoseok and Yoongi were standing in the living room. You could see that they both were nervous.
Looking at them, I greeted them with a soft, "Hi guys."
They both replied, "Hi."
I could see Hoseok restraining himself from coming over to me. Something that would have been so natural for him to do under different circumstances. I, myself, wanted to hug both of them, but knew I shouldn't. Everyone could feel the slight tension in the air.
Finally, Namjoon asked, "What would you ladies like to drink? We have wine, beer, iced tea, and water."
"Iced tea for the both of us," replied Malia. She knew I shouldn't drink alcohol tonight.
"Okay, coming right up."
I stood there awkwardly, not knowing whether I should sit or continue standing. A huge part of me wanted to dash for the door and run down to the beach to escape this situation. Malia, sensing my feeling of flight, grabbed my hand and guided me to the sofa.
"This is a nice beach house. Must keep it in mind for any future staycations." commented Malia.
"Yes, it's very nice," I added.
"Have you guys done any water sports while you've been here?" asked Malia.
Eyeing Y/N with a concerned look, Yoongi answered, "Namjoon took us boat fishing today. Hoseok caught the first and largest fish, a yellowfin tuna."
I looked at Hoseok surprised. "Wow, that must have been exciting."
"It was. Yoongi actually helped me to reel it in. We're actually eating the fish that we caught for dinner tonight. Hope you guys like it."
I gave a small smile, feeling relieved that they were somehow getting along.
"Dinner's ready. Guys can you please help me set the table?" asked Namjoon.
When they were ready, we went to sit at the table and I made sure to go between Namjoon and Malia. I could tell that both Hoseok and Yoongi weren't too thrilled about that. Throughout dinner they told us about their fishing adventure and the challenge. They made fun of Namjoon for losing the challenge.
I tried to listen intently and gave a few small smiles and chuckles. My stomach was in knots and I could barely eat. I just kept pushing my food around on the plate, unable to really look at either one of them. Incapable of bearing the weirdness any more, I excused myself from the table and went out onto the porch. As soon as I was outside, the urge to run hit me. I ran down to the beach and just kept running along the shoreline until I was exhausted with cheeks completely wet from a flood of tears. I collapsed to my knees, sobbing.
I didn't realize that both Hoseok and Yoongi had run after me once they saw me dash for the beach. Hoseok reached me first and knelt behind me and back-hugged me. Yoongi knelt in front of me to face me.
