Alaina nearly fell out of the tree.

"Their going to what!" She gasped.

"I over heard them talking when I was going to see Alexander and I-"

"You've been going to see Alex?"

"Yes, but anyway-"

"You've been going to see Alex and you still think it's bad I love him?"

"No, but I-"

"Then what is this all about Cathy?"

"If you'd let me finish, I'd be able to-"

"I mean he is just so amazing! How could you not love him? He is-"

"Alaina!" Cathy screamed.

Alaina shut her mouth giving Cathy all her attention. Cathy pushed back a stray strand of hair and looked at the ground.

"I over heard them talking, and they said that if you don't get it through your head he is the enemy they would have to kill you too." Cathy muttered.

"Why kill me too? Why not just let us live?" Alaina asked aggrieved.

"Cause they are crazy." Cathy stated simply.

"I have to get us out of here." Alaina muttered to herself.

"How?" Cathy asked. "How could you and Alexander possibly get out of the main building, across camp, and out of sight without being spotted?"

Alaina sat in thought for a second. How was she going to do it. She stared at the grass below them as she thought. There was no way they could do it. It was too risky. It would be suicidal. Alaina only had two options. Die with Alex, or live and let him die for the both of them. There was no third option.

Cathy reached over and put her hand over Alaina's shaking one. "It will be alright." She said "We will figure it out."

Alaina looked at the small girl beside her. Cathy's large eyes were watching the grass blow under their feet. She smiled, all this going on around her and Cathy was still able to tell her everything would be fine. Alaina realized that if she was leaving, she was taking Cathy with her.

"Cat." She said "I have a plan, and it might work. Can you trust me?"

Cathy smiled and nodded.

Alaina looked back towards the camp, smirking.

Alaina quietly opened the door checking over her shoulder for Cathy's warning signal. Hearing nothing, Alaina slid into the room. After shutting the door carefully, Alaina let her eyes adjust to the dim light.

The only light in the room was coming from a small candle that sat on the nightstand. Alaina walked over to the bed and gazed down at the person sleeping in the bed. She drew out something from her belt, carful not to make a sound. She quietly reached out and put her hand over the person's mouth.

Alex was awake immediately. His eyes shot open and he tried to struggle away from Alaina's grip.

"Shh!" Alaina whispered. "It's only me. Calm down!"

Alex looked up at Alaina, his drowsy eyes focusing and smiled. Alaina carefully removed her hand and smiled down at Alex. His brown hair was a mess and his shirt was somewhere missing in the room. His dark eyes sparkled with happiness as he gazed up at Alaina. He opened his mouth to speak but Alaina put a finger over his mouth.
