Hunter and Edric ended up stuck in a janitor's closet, which frustrated Hunter very much. Edric seemed more indifferent than anything else. if he did feel anything else, he didn't show it. not to Hunter anyway. "someone'll come get us," that was his response as he shrugged every time Hunter asked why he wasn't freaking out

"let's play a game" Edric suggested "to pass the time"

"i don't want to play game, i want to get out of here" Hunter groaned

"yeah but we're not going to be able to do that, as you can see...unless you have a paperclip on you?" was Edric going to pick his way through the door? Hunter certainly hoped so. it was his fault they were in this mess in the first place. so, Hunter searched everywhere for a paperclip. why would he have one on him? but thankfully, he did. and after the longest 60 seconds of his life (exaggeration) the door was finally opened. Hunter let out a breath of relief and Edric whooped in victory

"we should do that again" Edric smiled

"no." and Hunter walked away without another word

Luz could now safely say, she made a friend--other than Gus and, could she even consider the twins friends? Willow was definitely a strong girl. (and Luz did not mean that only literally). Willow was an incredibly strong-willed person. immensely smart too. but she was a biologist at heart. that's what she told Luz anyway.

Luz and Willow spent the whole day, hanging out with each other and talking about almost everything. it  was hard to see why everyone was so mean to her. not that Luz had seen this mischief firsthand (yet), but Willow did tell her about it when she asked what Amity's deal was this her

the next day, Luz had biology class. her second class of the week. she was only supposed to have one class a week but of course, Luz liked to be challenged...in all the wrong ways. this to say, was Luz's hardest subject. not because of the learning content but more because of the people in club Joro. most of them were preoccupied in their own worlds. only one came to talk to her. her name was Vinney, though the conversation was not long. the teacher had to give them their week's assignment. no group work.

Luz had to do research. she had to give an argumentative presentation on vaccines, had to give evidence and frankly, she knew nothing about vaccines other than what they're usually made of.

she didn't want to work in the Joro clubhouse so she decided, where else to get more information than the library? she had to find something, right?  oh she did, she did fid something. or rather...someone.

Amity was in kids section (which Luz was not aware the school had) reading to a group of kids. she looked at ease and so different than the Amity she presented herself as. especially to Luz. so much so, that Luz just had to stay and watch. watch the mean girl she knew break down her walls for these kids. it was moving. the type of vulnerability on display was something Luz was beginning to adore.

but as the reading session ended, so did the display. Luz walked over to the young Blight, smirking.

"you with kids? you really have a soft side, do you?"

"ugh, you again"

"i have a name, you know" Luz rolled her eyes

"yes, and i have a reputation you keep trying to knock down" Amity said.

"you do that for yourself. i'm not the one pretending to be someone i'm not" Amity scoffed as she picked up the pillows on the floor, noticing that Luz was obviously trailing her.

"Hey Mittens," just Amity's luck. of course the twins were here "brought you lunch" though Amity was grateful to her older siblings for constantly reminding her to eat, she would've liked to have one day when they weren't pestering her. not going to happen, she knew that. it was bad enough Edric threw water balloons at her yesterday
