Eda was only going to have her first lesson in the next week but she was already booked with so much work and meetings. She envied the students. That had one lesson per week whilst the teachers were stuck with a bunch of preparation and meetings on various topics.
Today was like no other, work in her office, then work in her apartment. Except this time, while she was avoiding the work yet again, she heard a knock on her apartment door. I can't wait for the holiday, she thought, sighing but getting up to open the door
"Edalyn Clawthorne?"
"What's with everyone using my government name?" Eda groaned to herself "depends who's asking?"
"The name's officer Bethany Leo. And I'd like to take EdalynClawthorne in for interrogation"
"Why?"
"Please come in Miss Clawthorne" Eda took a deep breath. No running. She promised she'd look after the kids. And that's exactly what she was going to do. So she nodded, closing the door behind her.
They didn't drive to the station, instead, they walked to her office. There were others waiting outside. Waiting for Eda to open the door. Hesitantly, she did. And she let them in
"Sorry to come unannounced," Eda took a seat at her desk and watched carefully as the officers took their seats too. Planning any and every escape plan on instinct. "How are you handling Miss Noceda's death? I'm sure you're feeling unmotivated. Consider this a safe space, Miss Clawthorne" absolute bullshit, but she bit her tongue. She knew how this worked. What confused her was why they didn't come to her sooner "we have reason to believe that Camila's accident was in fact planned murder" and we suspect you, that's what she knew they wanted to say
"Ok?" Get to the point!
"We know that you to were close" get to the fucking point!
"Yup," Eda smiled "friends since high school"
"Well, maybe then you can tell me about the accident"
"I don't know much, I didn't see it happen" in truth, she didn't. She sat on the armchair whilst Luz and Hunter spoke to their mother. But was she going to mention that?
"Ah yes, though you and her children we're the first ones seen at the hospital where she was admitted?"
"Yes" no more questions, please
"Why is that?"
"I have connections to get there fast"
"Illegal connections?"
"I plead the fifth"
"You know that makes you look like you were involved"
"I know, but unfortunately, I could tell you the truth, and still not believe me" she shrugged
"Good point" the Officer smiled "well then, we will talk later"
"Look forward to it" Eda grumbled
