"What makes a character a hero?" In a circle, the students sat. Luz sat next to Gus and Emira. Today she had her very first creative literary class. They had this class in the library. Her classes so far had been in labs or outside since Hexside didn't have classrooms. But apparently, club Loki has most of their classes in the library

"A hero is someone who stands for something that is morally right" Luz answered

"And What is morally right?"

"I—I don't know"

"Let's take for example Thanos from the marvel universe. His goal was to allow people to access more resources. His end was justifiable. Why doesn't that make him a hero?"

"Well, because he killed people" Luz answered

"So did the Avengers"

"Well, he killed more people?"

"So the more radicalized the circumstance, the more someone should be antagonized?"

"I think he could've done something else to increase resources"

"Suggestions?" Luz thought about it for a while but couldn't come to a conclusion. The teacher was right. Why was Thanos the villain? And if he wasn't, what could he have done different to be recognized as a hero?

"I have nothing" Luz sighed

"That's ok. It's a discussion. Anyone have an answer?" Everyone else sighed. They too had nothing they could think of. What was a hero? Until Edric raised his hand

"I think I have an answer to your first question" he admitted

"Go on"

"I think a hero is someone who does something that impacts society positively. I mean like, someone who finds a cure for cancer or something"

"I think you're close, Ed" Will said (the teacher) "that brings us to our assignment. This week, you'll do research on a well known superhero and give me reasons on why you think they are or aren't a hero"

"Do we get to choose our heroes?" Matholomule asked

"Nope" Will smiled "Matt, you'll do Iron-Man, Edric: Mr Incredible, Emira: Catwoman, Gus: John Constantine, Luz, you'll do James Bucky Barnes, Ivan..." the Winter Soldier? That was a hard one. Bucky was Steve's best friend and even became Captain America in the comics. But his history and his mcu counterparts made her wonder what she thought he was. Was he a hero or more of an anti-hero? Right now, she couldn't tell

After class, the club members hung out in their living room, complaining about the heroes they had to research

"John Constantine?" Gus groaned "that man is basically an anti-hero, right?"

"Don't get me started" Edric sighed "isn't it obvious that Mr Incredible is a hero?"

"That man has issues" Emira chuckled "I would not call him a hero"

"Hey don't disrespect Mr Incredible like that, Em" it was said in a joking tone but Ed was serious. And that made Emira laugh more

"Man, The Winter Soldier" Luz sighed. This school gets harder by the day

"Yeah I feel sorry for you" Emira chuckled

"May we Rest In Peace" Edric said, dramatically raising his glass of milk as if it were wine

"Amen, brother"

"Anyway, I gotta go" Edric stood up from the floor, not noticing he was smiling

"Why? Have plans?" Emira teased
