Chapter 27: The Final Act

(Seth's Familiar POV)

A explosion goes off near our main forces, The Demon Council paged us via rune and told us to commense the operation, Sillva rips off the ddoor leading into the sewer system,
Kaze and Souza lead the charge, Raina right behind them,
Kogo and Sillva in the middle, us in the back,
we moved fast but stealthy,
if we made so much as a peep Exorcist in hiding could ambush us,
assuming there are Exorcist down here. It took us a few minutes but the yuki-onnas Flecia and Crystal found our exit, before anyone went up,
I used a shadow rune on my allies and take them into my shadow but I also become a shdow myself so that I could tred the city above.
I slip into the Exorcist factory rear entrance like I suppose to,
the layout was unknown, from looks of the place the storage will be on a higher floor. "Keep your wits about you,
Legates on higher floors."
Sillva says,
we allow him to lead sense he was built like a tank,
he was so well built he'd make Dwayne the rock Johnson blush.
Sillva lead us up stairs, explosions going off, bullets can be heard,
tanks being fired,
from outside,
all I could feel was the alluming danger around me.

We pause in a hall way, there were sprinklers over head and we were three floors up,
elavator not working either,
this was obviously a trap but it was the only way up to the next floor,
Sillva casually walks about half way into the hallway before I noticed what the trap was. It WAS the sprinkler system! It had some sort of strip or something that would cause a fire the second it was pulled extremely fast igniting a fire right there at the sprinkler!
"EVERYONE! THE SPRINKLERS!" And of course I speak up too late, the sprinklers go off and it rains holy water!
Penny,
Leon and everyone were hit by it, Sillva tanked it like a boss,
Brandon turned into electricity and bolted to the safe end of the hallway,
everyone else screamed,
I took them into my shadow and I bolt as a shadow myself and release them in the next room,
no sprinklers but it was quiet.
As soon as we had that brief moment to ourselves the next onslaught came as we heard remote controlled cars driving down the steps and towards us.
"RC XD!" Everyone looks at me wierdly as I blurt that out.
"REMOTE CONTROLLED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE!"
Everyone starts dodging but it was too late, they explode,
the explosion itself didn't really harm us it was the fact that the bomb was holy water so it was basically a minature hydrogen bomb in a much waterd down scale, no pun intended.

Once again everyone was weakend  myself included save for Brandon and Sillva, as we heal our wound slowly we all hear the sound of running to the next room followed by a slamming of a door,
we all give chase and of course these fuckers had a trap layed out,
two turrents come out of a secret department in the wall and two come out from the cieling and open fire, everyone dodged except Penny and Leon who took the full brunt!
Two Exorcist came out,
I wanted to help Penny and Leon but Raina picks me up.
"Don't bother, as bad as it is to say this, the weakest links can not be saved, if you saved them how many more people will die just so you can save two lives? Think if the people who are laying down their life for us." Dammit!
She's right, my moral compess is telling me to go on but my heart is telling me to save them, my heart slowly begins to sink as Penny and Leon start fighting the Legates, and that was the last I saw of them before being carried up a floor.

(Leon's POV)

So this is how we die huh?
Left for dead and used only as a distraction, not once did I ever think I'd die to a bunch of humans.
Our healing factor has taken a beating, we'll be lucky to survive or to even take these two out in front of us.
Me and Penny brace ourselves for the inevitable fight at hand,
the Legates draw their SMG in one hand, shirasaya in the other,
we use a keep away strategy,
using hit and run tactics or in our case jumping around kicking wind around and punching pressurized wind canons from my fist while Penny turned her body into fire to avoid the bullets.
The moment the Legates needed to reload was when we went on the offensive, Penny throwing fireballs, and I start punching the Legate,
these damn bastards were inhumans as it gets,
they could take a full blow punch from my fist and not have a shatterd jaw! Legate swings his shirasaya and I do everything in my power to dodge,
attack openings and blast him into Penny, Penny forms her Fire Golem and starts wrecking her Legate,
as good as that was,
she was burning through her demonic energy, no pun intended.

My Legate manages to turn the tide against me and slash me then kick me away, much to my discomfort.
"Second sacred sword technique: Wind Splitter!"
He slashes once and this green energy comes at me, all I could see were multiple lines coming at me at once before I felt my body fall apart!
I use a Grenzbrecher to teleport my crumbling body and expend what's left of my energy to heal my wounds. "GAH!" Penny squeals as as her Fire Golem gets put out by a sword incased by water sworling around her Legate's shirasaya.
"Third sacred sword technique: Water Whip."
He begins to pop her with said Water Whip, before I could even help her I was being shot at again!

I start dodging like crazy and as much as I live flashy flips and shit,
now wasn't the time for it and yet here I am doing it instinctively!
Penny must be feeling extremely pressured as she now resorts to her Demon Transformation into Pisces,
I activate Grenzbrecher lvls 2 through 10 and start teleporting all over the room, knocking my Legate around like a volleyball but fate had other plans for us as a golden blast hits me,
Penny and my Legate.
My Legate is obviously dead but that blast did quite the number on me, my body was in so much pain it was hard to move let alone walk. Dammit all!

(Penny's POV)

I hit the wall hard, all my Grenzbrechers were ativated,
if I use my fire,
he extinguishes it,
if I engage him in hand to hand combat, he drowns me in water from that sword, is ther no way to beat him?!
"Penny, fight smarter, not harder." Sound advice Leon!
Easier said then done!
My Demon Transformation gives out in seconds from all the damage I've taken but until the bitter end, until the very end, I was determined to win!
I promised Seth!
I promised Leon!
Even dad!
I fight back and endure the slashes, the Legate was nimbble enough to avoid and skilled enough to counter attack me, in the end, there was nothing I could do as I get effortlessly thrown to the wall by Leon. My ribs broken,
my breathing sharp,
and my eye sight beginning to fail me. Seth, I'm so sorry I couldn't live on to see our happy ever after, but what I can do. In the here and now.

Is take this Legate out with me and Leon. "Guah............. Leon............. I'm so sorry." Tears begin to fall down my face. "I know.......... I'm sorry I wasn't a better friend to you." The Legate flips his sword into a reverse grip and gets ready to stab the ground. "Time to end it, say goodbye you damn demons, give Satan my regards." He stabs the floor making the water molecules in the room visible then controls it with simple breathing techniques. "Fourth sacred sword technique: Artic Blade."
All the water in the room freezes into ice rendering us unable to move not that we're resisting anymore,
the ice then molds into spikes and impales our bodies, Leon scream and grunts in pain but I could only manage a grunt of agony. "Goodbye Leon, may we meet in the afterlife."
Leon barfs us blood as I muster what's left of my demonic energy to form one big fire rune,
the Legate noticed too late and when he ran, I detnonated the rune.
In that moment,
I saw my whole life flash before my eyes. All the good memories and bad memories,
even the ones with dad, my only regret was not being able to survive this war with Leon,
Brandon and Seth.
Once my life finshed flashing,
all I saw was red then black as my body goes numb.
Or to be more specific it felt like I had no body at all,
what felt like a eternity passed and before I knew it I saw myself at a alter,
The Demon Council and the army at the pews,
my father Brandon Yeets playing here comes the bride. 
I begin to walk down the alter to Seth and shortly after,
the wedding kicks off. What felt like a few minutes last a mere few seconds as the priest says the words I wanted to hear. "You may now kiss the bride. Congratulations." We both lean in for the kiss and the rest went white.

(Legate's POV)

"Damn you.... vile she devil!" I take my last breaths alive as I stare at the scatterd body parts of the fire demon, the damn thing got me in end.
