Two years later...

A hard body impeded Sasha's stretch. Jake. She woke smiling. Every day, she wanted to pinch herself. Twenty-six lost years, and they found each other again. She didn't allow herself to consider her decision, which affected so many lives. Maybe fate needed to work the way it did for Reed and Laney. A lazy smile spread across her face.

Jake groaned. "It's too early. Wait."

Laney had been in labor all day. They finally got the call after eleven. Mom and baby were healthy, but tired. Jake was right. Poor Laney. She would have a ton of people wanting to visit.

Jake pulled her close. "Reed should hire a traffic cop."

"I only had one visitor."

Jake pulled her closer. She was confident his love for her out balanced the hurt she caused. When he said he wished he had been there, it was a statement of love, not accusation.

"Sash, my love, I know you want to rush in, but give the new family some time. I texted my mother last night to let them have some space. Let Maureen and Paul have their time and Davis and Marnie."

"I know. You're right." Sasha smiled. "They named her for me."

Reed said Alexandra Sasha Davis.

"And I'm going to be the coolest grandmother ever."

Jake rolled on top of her. "The youngest ever, my sexy granny wife."

His mouth sought hers, and she melted into him. His fingers roamed her body, toying and driving her mad. She wanted him, but nothing was new about that. She let the waves of pleasure spread over her as he slid into her, bringing their bodies and souls as close as humanly possible.

Although circumstances had caused them both to fall away from the religion they had been raised with, Sasha felt spiritual when they made love. It was so different from the fumbling forbiddenness when they made a child. It couldn't compare to the sexually satisfying act she shared with Davis for much too long.

Every time she and Jake became one, she felt their powerful love that survived all the hurt she caused. The first time they truly made love was when they woke in her bed the morning after the storm. It was slow and sensual, but full of desire. Their body's fit together like she finally found a missing piece of herself. Skin to skin, she thought her heart might expand and explode into a million pieces.

All she felt was love. The pain was washed away. Jake felt it, too. He kissed her and said, "Let's get married. I can't lose you again."

"When?"

"Now. Today."

Sasha laughed. "You have no clothes. The causeway is closed."

"We'll wash my clothes. As soon as the road opens, we'll find someone."

"You're afraid of Davis."

"Maybe I am, but I married the wrong woman and couldn't make it work. At eighteen, I planned on you being my wife. I will only ever want you until forever. Sasha, say yes."

"Yes, but I need time to make us rings."

"They can come later. I just want you legally mine."

They were married alone before anyone knew they were a couple. Sasha had been afraid to tell Davis, but he accepted defeat. He had to, because she was another man's wife. Like Sasha, he had tried to cling to their past. Luckily, Sasha's other past became her future. They were still friends and would always be linked by Reed and Alexandra.

Reed and Laney had the big wedding. Reed was adamant it would be without tacky traditions, no garter, cake smashing, or chicken dance. He admitted weddings weren't horrible for the groom, but one was more than enough for him. As he said it, he stared at Davis, who was dating a pleasant woman. She was older than Sasha and Davis claimed neither was interested in another marriage.

After having no family, Sasha felt wrapped in love. Diane took her back in the fold. Her mother-in-law confidently told anyone who would listen that it was just a matter of time.

Jake got out of bed, and Sasha watched his beautiful body walk to the bathroom. Misha jumped up and took his place on the bed.

She petted her. "You'll get in trouble."

Jake's house was her home, too. She missed The Point when they weren't there, but their children were nearby. Her stepson and his wife, the child that was the combination of her and Jake's love. She was pretty perfect. Sasha wanted to meet the new combination of love, Reed and Laney's. She knew the story of love at first sight. They fought it, but Alexandra will be very glad fate intervened.

She flung the covers off. It was time for substandard coffee. When her phone chimed, she smiled.
