Overview: Y/n and Bucky meet someone new during their time in London. (This isn't canon I don't think! But, if you're thinking timeline wise, this would probably be after a mission with the team. I would say it'd be when they're exploring the world, but then they would've had to be undercover the entire time!)

"Come on, Buck! It'll be fun!"

After dealing with a pretty heavy mission in London, the team were given an extra day before they flew back to the quinjet. Most of them spent the day in their hotel rooms, just wanting to rest up and deal with any injuries, but not y/n. Never y/n. They were in a new city, of course she was going to explore it.

Bucky had followed y/n around like a lost puppy all day, and, as much as he complained, he was actually having a great time. He could be anywhere, but as long as he had y/n by his side, he was happy. He loved the way her eyes lit up at the simplest of things, and the way she would ramble on and on about fun facts she'd learnt from Vision. God, Bucky adored everything.

They were definitely a sight to see, walking around London. Mostly because they were Avengers, and people were documenting their every move, but it was also because they were so roughed up from the mission yesterday. Fresh stitches traced y/n's jaw, a deep purple bruise ran across Bucky's cheekbone, and both of their knuckles were decorated with various cuts and bruises. Of course there were other injuries, but those were the only ones visible to the public. Hell, if someone even poked Bucky's side, he probably would've cried from the pain.

Bucky was currently being dragged up a set of stairs toward a museum, trying his hardest to dig his heels into the ground to stop y/n from making him go inside. He'd leant all his weight in the opposite direction, but that was no match for the determined woman in front of him mimicking super soldier strength. "How is a museum fun?" He complained, yet he couldn't wipe the smile from his face.

Y/n continued to pull Bucky up the stairs, huffing and grunting at the amount of effort she had to put in. God, he was like a toddler. "What do you mean? It's full of cool artefacts for us to look at!" She exclaimed excitedly, finally able to pull Bucky into the building. "Plus, Vision said it was an interesting place to visit."

"Yeah, but that's Vision. If I wanted a history lesson, I'd go back to school."

Y/n was always right. They did actually have fun.

After the first few sections, y/n had quickly realised how boring the museum was. So, she decided to string Bucky into a game. They had to make up the most outlandish story possible for the artefact in front of them, and then they'd read the real informational piece. The story furthest from the informational piece would win.

It was a great game, especially since they were both so competitive. Some of the highlights of the game were a knight's helmet used for head-bashing competitions, a cannon used to hide babies, and a fossil that had actually been formed by a skyscraper falling on a snail. Every story was stupid, and had the pair laughing much more than a person should inside of a museum, but they didn't care.

The pair were currently stood in the gift shop of the Egyptian section, with y/n being adamant that she wanted to buy something before they left. They'd explored every other gift shop in the museum, and this was their last one, so the stakes were high.

Y/n had been busy browsing all of the different products, eyebrows knitted together in though as she pondered every single item. It was important to her. It was going to symbolise their first time in London, it had to be important.

Bucky was hot on y/n's heels. He always was. His chin rested on her shoulder as she flicked through a notepad, making little comments here and there to try and persuade her into buying it. For Bucky, the exhaustion of the busy day was starting to settle in. He was ready to lay down in their hotel room and call it a day, but y/n wasn't ready for that.

"Yeah, but what would we use a notepad for?" She sighed, shaking her head as she set the notepad down. She knew that Bucky was getting tired, but finding something to commemorate the day was important. Y/n's eyes scanned around the gift shop, about to give up until she spotted something that made her gasp. It was a plush toy of a hippo with an Egyptian headpiece on it. "Oh my god! Look at the hippo!"

"Taweret!" A voice suddenly interrupted.

Y/n and Bucky glanced over with wide eyes as somebody interrupted them, it had completely caught them off guard. Y/n's eyebrows were knitted together in confusion as she picked up the plush toy, confused as to why the person had said a random name to them, especially since they were a cashier for the gift shop.

The man's confidence seemed to waver a little when he was given a puzzled look. "Taweret." He repeated with a sharp breath. "The hippo, Goddess Taweret." He explained, shoulder tense as the pair strolled over to the counter. Of course he knew that the pair were Avengers, but he was taught in training to treat everyone the same, and that was what he was going to do. No fangirling allowed.

"Ooo, a little lesson!" Y/n grinned, a genuine look in her eyes as she set the toy down on the counter to buy. Bucky didn't seem as impressed, but he was always a bit overprotective when it came to new people. "What else can you teach us..." She trailed off, trying to read the cashier's name tag.

"Steven." The cashier interrupted, eyes lighting up at y/n wanting to know more. "With a 'v'." He added, showing them his name tag. He scanned the toy, glancing around for other things to talk about. "Well, I'm not really allowed to give fun facts. That's the tour guide's job, and my boss will bugger me if she finds out I'm doing this." He admitted, starting to ramble.

Y/n couldn't wipe the smile off of her face as she listened to the cashier, he seemed so sweet. "Well, I'm y/n, and this is Bucky with a 'b'." She hummed, copying the way Steven introduced himself, which made the poor guy go bright red. "How about these?" She asked, pointing toward the jelly treats on the counter.

"Oh, those?" Steven asked, rubbing the back of his neck as he picked up one of the packets. "I don't really know what these have to do with Egypt, really." He admitted. "It's like, they didn't have jellies back then, did they? No." Steven ranted, answering his own question as he set the packet back down. "They liked figs and dates and-" He paused, realising that he was starting to ramble again. "Sorry! I'm supposed to be scanning this in for you. Here." Steven hummed, quickly scanning the toy hippo as he watched y/n use Tony's card to pay for it.

"Thank you! And thank you for your fun facts, Steven with a 'v'." Y/n winked, adoring how awkward the man was. She picked up the toy, quickly following Bucky out of the exhibit so that they could finally head back to the hotel. "He seemed nice."

"Hm." Bucky hummed, obviously suspicious of the innocent-looking man. "Nice with a terrible British accent. Even Scott could do better than that."
