Norway in the middle of winter.

Like every other place on her map, it had always been a dream of y/n's to visit Norway. The northern lights were obviously the main attraction, but she also just wanted to take in the sights, the culture, the food, everything. Bucky was typically forced to eat whatever y/n tried, which had led to some funny moments between the pair. The poor super soldier would turn bright red after taking a single bite of something spicy, whilst she wouldn't even be phased by it.

The pair were spending a few days in Norway. They'd found a motel that they could stay in. It definitely wasn't up to the usual 'Avenger' standards with lavish hotel rooms and room service, but that didn't matter. They were supposed to be undercover. Plus, there was beauty in the smaller places - or at least that was what y/n said. Super soldiers aren't typically built for small spaces and rickety beds. God, the amount of times Bucky had almost knocked himself out with the showerhead...

Speaking of showers, that was what Bucky was currently doing. He was stood under the hot water, relishing the feeling of it. They'd been outside in the freezing cold all day, and whilst y/n would always call him her 'personal heater', he definitely felt the cold today. Hot showers had always been a joy of his. After being continuously frozen and unfrozen for years, the warmth was something he cherished, and it was even better without his metal arm. God, that thing used to heat up like a seatbelt buckle left out in the sun for too long.

A drawn-out sigh escaped the super soldier's lips, keeping his eyes closed as the steam continued to hit his face. The showerhead only reached up to his chest, which led to him having to lean down whenever he needed to wash his hair, but that didn't matter. Bucky was used to it. Plus, every now and then, if he whined enough, y/n would wash his hair for him. Luxury.

Y/n was far from relaxation.

She'd showered before Bucky, so she decided to use her spare time finding a vending machine. It was supposed to be a quick trip, no shoes needed, just grabbing snacks and coming back to the room, but of course there was one thing that y/n had left behind.

The key to their room.

So, there she was. Stood out in the heavy snow in only a pair of thick socks and one of Bucky's sweaters. Her hair was still damp from the shower, but now that was mixed with tiny snowflakes. The thick socks were soaked through. It was a disgusting feeling, but that wasn't her main priority.

As soon as Bucky stepped out of the shower, he was met with the sound of heavy banging on the door. His immediate thought was that it was the police, and that Tony had finally found them. Oh god, y/n. What if they'd already taken her? His heart started to pound at a million miles a minute as he rushed to dry off with only one hand.

After almost falling to the floor several times, he managed to finally pull on some sweatpants and rush out of the bathroom. He expected to be met with chaos, but instead he was met with... nothing? The room was as clean as they'd left it, the only problem was that y/n had disappeared.

"Barnes! Open the damn door!"

There she was.

Bucky couldn't help but laugh at the sight of y/n as he opened the door. Freezing cold, teeth chattering, and the most determined grip on the snacks she'd bought. He leant against the doorway, blocking her from getting in. "I didn't ask for room service." He teased, eyebrows raised.

"Ha, ha." Y/n fake laughed, trying to push past the super soldier. "Let me in! I'm freezing my ass off out here." She huffed, her voice wavering due to the uncontrollable chattering of her teeth. She pressed her frozen palms against Bucky's chest, a proud look on her face as he quickly flinched away and let her in. She dropped the snacks that had previously been tucked under her arms onto the small table before making haste of peeling the soaked socks off of her feet.

Bucky shut the door, a frown on his face as he rubbed his chest, trying to soothe the shock of y/n's palms. It was a massive contrast to the hot water he'd been in just a few minutes ago. "Why'd you think it was a good idea to go out like that? You always complain about the cold." He questioned, digging through their suitcase so he could find some warm clothes for her.

Y/n shrugged, her teeth continuing to chatter as she stole the towel that had been around Bucky's neck. It was damp, but it was better than nothing. "It was only supposed to be a quick trip." She murmured, drying herself off after she stripped down to just a bra and a pair of pants. "I saw a vending machine on our way in, so I used most of our spare change on snacks- Thank you." She cut herself off as Bucky handed her some warm pyjamas, starting to pull them on as she watched Bucky climb into bed. "And it was all going so well until I got to the door, and then I realised I didn't have the key on me."

Bucky rolled his eyes, unable to wipe the fond smile from his face as he watched y/n switch on the television and grab some snacks before she settled herself between his legs. He wrapped his arm around y/n's waist so he could pull her impossibly closer, pressing gentle kisses into her damp hair. "Why didn't you just teleport..?" The super soldier asked in a teasing tone, trying his hardest not to laugh.

Y/n paused as she heard Bucky's question. A deep shade of red started to creep across her cheeks as she leant against his chest, an embarrassed smile tugging at her lips. "I forgot..." She admitted in almost a whisper, closing her eyes as the super soldier started to laugh. "Look, it's not something I think of all the time!" She exclaimed, trying to create an excuse, but there wasn't one. She was just dumb.

"How do you forget something like that?" Bucky laughed, dipping his hand into one of the many snack bags y/n had opened. "You have so many powers, and you forget about the one that gives you the most advantage? You form a fireball in your hand whenever someone slightly pisses you off, but you can't teleport when you get stuck out in the snow?" He teased, just continuing to laugh when y/n slapped his shoulder.

"Shut up!" She exclaimed with a giggle, but he was right. Teleporting was never something in the front of her mind, even if it could've gotten her out of many sticky situations.
