Overview: After defeating Thanos in Wakanda, Bucky decided to go through with an altered version of his plan. (Obviously this isn't canon, this is in a world where Thor went for the head, but I thought it'd be nice to see what could've happened.)

"What a day."

It had been several hours since the fight. The sun was setting on Wakanda, blanketing the country in beautiful orange and pink hues. A gentle breeze rattled the long grass, soothing the high temperatures of the day. It was peaceful. Wakanda always was, but after today, people came to appreciate it even more.

Anyone injured had been patched up, or were in the midst of being patched up, bodies had been recovered from the battlefield in a tearful clean-up, and the Wakandan people were finally freed from the shelter underneath the citadel. There was going to be a memorial held for the fallen soldiers tomorrow, but for now, it was time for the festival.

Outsiders would deem it as insensitive for holding a festival after the massacre of today, but it had actually given the Wakandan people all the more reason to party. They were celebrating their fallen ones. They died a warrior's death, they defended Wakanda until their last breath, they deserved to be celebrated and respected before the memorial.

Of course, there were quite a few people that weren't attending the festival. Not because they didn't agree with it - god, it was far from that. Most of the people that weren't attending were the ones that had been fighting earlier in the day. Whether it be injury or just complete physical or mental exhaustion, they weren't in the right state to be dancing all night. The people attending obviously respected that. Hell, they even made sure to send food to make sure they didn't miss out.

Bucky and y/n were part of the few that didn't attend, which was surprising to many, but it was the right move. Neither of them were in a fit state to smile and dance all night. They were sore, bruised, and exhausted. So instead, y/n teleported them up to their usual mountain with a picnic basket full of food from the festival.

They sat side-by-side, feet dangling in the open air, quietly enjoying the still-warm food. A peaceful way to end a stressful day, and they had a perfect view of the festival. The distant sound of music was carried by the breeze, not too loud, but enough for y/n to still be able to make out the lyrics.

A warm smile appeared on y/n's face as Bucky spoke up, glancing over at him before looking back down at her food. "Mhm." She hummed, finishing her mouthful before even attempting to speak. "What. A. Day." Y/n repeated in a slow, drawn out tone, causing the super soldier to laugh. She rested her head on his shoulder, eyes glued to the lively festival down below. "You started the day sweaty and stinking of goats, and you finished it sweaty and stinking of alien guts."

Bucky raised his eyebrows, letting out a quiet laugh as he continued to eat. The locals had packed some non-spicy variations of food just for him, which was very funny to y/n. "I know you told me to shower before the festival, I know. I just got a bit busy, y'know?" He hummed in a teasing tone, trying his hardest to not get any sauce on his new vibranium hand. "Had to deal with a weird guy that was trying to wipe out half of earth's population... You know how it goes."

"Oh yeah, I get it." Y/n nodded, matching Bucky's casual tone. "I heard that he had an obsession with these sparkly stones, is that right?" She asked, lifting her head up from Bucky's shoulder so that she could finish off the rest of her food. "You know, if he wanted a sparkly stone, he could've just bought some. I swear I've seen some that are identical to the one he tried to get out of Vision's head."
