Serkan

It's been a week.  He got to Rome a few hours after her plane landed. He knew it was a long shot, but she was already out of the airport when he arrived. He chose not to call her Aunt,  for he wanted her to be the first to know. He checked in to one of the hotel he frequent whenever he's in Rome for a visit. Call some friends and previous clients for help, but for some reason, Eda was nowhere to be found. He had Leyla call Eda's professor about the name of the school. Good thing she got it.

He's  been camping outside the university for three days wishing he'd be able to spot her. This was the fourth day.

"Eda, where are you?" he murmured, it was three in the afternoon.  He's  been sitting in the car all day.  The first day he visited all the botanical gardens wishing she'd be in one of them, but no luck.  Haven't got any decent sleep for days.  He had tried calling her, but she won't answer any of his calls, even ask Leyla to call her, but still no answer. Pyril, had already called him three times this week, furious about him leaving Turkey without a warning. Good thing Engin had told her to keep it a secret for now. And Selin, she had been calling day and night, but after what she did, Serkan didn't really care if he had hurt her.

He was biting of a sandwich he brought for lunch when  he saw a figure walking through the rearview mirror. It was her. Finally. My fairy girl  he thought.  He was about to step off the car but changed his mind.

"I need to get her something first." he whispered. She was breathtakingly beautiful.  She got in a car and drove off.  Serkan followed her for fifteen minutes, trying to keep distance as she parked her car on the side of the road and gets in a small apartment building four ten blocks from the university. He gets out of the car and followed her as she took the stairs up to the third floor and open the door to  apartment 3B. "This is where she lives." he said to himself and  immediately ran out and look for a flower shop, one that makes a terrarium. She love those, he thought.

Eda

She poured herself a glass of water and walked towards the tiny veranda in her apartment. She was finally in Rome. It's been a week since she arrive, but never really had time to go places yet. She sometime would just stay home and finish some drawing or sometime just read.  The first night she was all alone in Semiha's big house. Her grandmother managed to arrange a car to pick her up at the airport the night she arrived. She insisted for Eda to stay in her house since no one has lived there for quite sometime, but the latter had to refuse. Eda looked up on rentals online and found this apartment. It wasn't much, but it will do. she said when she first came to check. It was near the university, so she could just walk whenever she needs to go to class.  But knowing her grandmother,  she insisted she take the car she got for her.

As she look down across the street and saw a familiar figure of a man.  Serkan?  she thought, closed her eyes for a few seconds and opened them again, and he was gone. "Come one Eda, how can he be here? He's probably with Selin." she nagged herself, sip some water and got inside to get started with dinner. She have drawings due in three days.

She was into her second drawing when she heard someone knock on her door.  "Who could that be?" she asked herself. I don't remember ordering something. she thought.  She tried peeking through the peephole, but no one was outside. She carefully opens the door looked at the hall but nothing, no one was there. She looked down and saw a glass bowl. "A terrarium? I don't think this is for me."  she looked through the hallway again, with the heavy bowl in her hands. "Maybe there's a note."  she carried the bowl inside to check, close the door shut and place the thing on the table. "This looks similar to the one I have at home." she absent mindedly said. Picked the note that says.

'Peri Kizi,

I told you once before. If I were born a hundred times, then I'd fall in love with you a hundred times.'

She had been staring at the note for a while, didn't even hear the someone was knocking. *knock*  But Eda didn't fuss. The person outside was starting to get impatient. Then Eda heard banging on the door. She dropped the note and walked quickly to the door. Opening it in such fast motion, still looking at the terrarium she left on the table. She turn her head to check who was knocking, and saw eyes... deep set of light brown eyes.

"Serkan?" she looked at him. His eyes, they have that familiar look in them. Like before.

"Eda?" he said. "Serkan? What are you doing here?" she looked away.

"I'm here for you." he said.

"I'm not going back to Turkey, Serkan. Go home."

"I'm not asking you to go back, Eda. And I am home." he held her hand  and gave it a lingering kiss.

"My home is wherever you are, Eda Yildiz." He tucked the hair covering her face. "My beauty. I'm sorry for all the hurtful things I've done. I'm sorry I forgot about us. I'm sorry I forgot how great our love was..is.. I'm sorry I've put you through hell. Eda, I love you.  I promise I'll make it up to you."

"Serkan!?" she stared at the man in front of her. Unable to say something. She had been waiting for him to come back to her for so long. Eda, held his face. touch his soft lips as if trying to memorize every intricate detail. "My love. You remember?" she asked.

"Yes, Eda.. Every inch of you. Every curve in your body, your scent, your smile. I remember it all. I'm sorry it took me months to remember our love. I'm sorry. I love you so much." he gave her a lingering kiss on the cheek and hugged her tight.

"Eda!?" he whispered. "Hmm!?" she answered back. "I've missed you so much, my fairy girl." he said as he kissed her forehead.  "I'm never going anywhere without you, Eda Yildiz."
