Carter's pov-
The past two weeks have been fairly boring. They consist of me going to work and coming home and doing more work. My brothers make sure I eat something everyday, even if it's small. Besides dinner I barely see my brothers. I leave the house before they're awake and I go straight to my room after dinner. I've been avoiding them like the plague. I'm trying my best to avoid having the conversation of my past.
Although, I feel kind of bad for giving the twins the silent treatment since they haven't done anything to me. They've tried making conversation with me throughout the day but I don't want to risk it. I have a feeling anything I tell them will be relayed to my brothers, so I'd rather be safe than sorry and just keep my mouth shut. I also don't want them to feel like they have to pretend to be friends with me when they're just doing their job. I'd rather have no friends than fake friends.
I know I've been avoiding them but it's not like they've really tried to talk to me anyway. It's almost like they're avoiding me as much as I'm avoiding them. Casper and Carson don't come to my room to watch movies or see Miles anymore. Callum doesn't constantly pop his head in to check on Miles and I. It's like they've given up on trying to get to know me, I can't really blame them though. It's my fault for pushing them away.
Since I felt guilty about avoiding them so much I decided to not leave before they were even awake. I did get up early and cook breakfast for them though. Just as I was finishing setting the table I heard my brother's footsteps on the stairs. Miles let out a babble and reached his arms out when he saw Casper. Two weeks ago Casper would've smiled and taken Miles but instead he looked at us for a moment and then grabbed his backpack off the hook and walked out the front door.
" What's all this?" Caspian asked, adjusting his tie. I smiled slightly as I adjusted Miles on my hip, " Breakfast, I figured since you've been making dinner for me every night I could make breakfast for you." I said. He gave a single stiff nod, " It looks great but Callum and I need to get to work and Carson needs to get to school." he said, picking up his briefcase.
I felt my stomach drop. Of course they had places to go, god this was such a stupid idea. Now I've wasted a bunch of food and wasted their time. " Right, I'm sorry, I should've asked first. I'll pay for the food I wasted." I said as I started picking up plates of food from the table. Caspian was about to say something when his phone rang. He took the call and left the room.
" You don't have to pay us for the food, we appreciate the gesture." Callum said, before I could respond Caspian walked into the room and whispered something to Callum. " Have a good day." they said at the same time before turning and walking out the front door. As I was cleaning up the mess I made I heard the front door open and slam shut and I assumed it was Carson leaving for school since he was the only one left in the house.
I cannot believe I wasted all this food, I'm so fucking dumb. I don't know why I ever thought this was a good idea. I hope I didn't make them too mad. Oh god, what if I did? My mind was racing with all the possible things they were going to do to me as punishment. What if they're just like Chris and Natalie? I felt my breathing pick up and my hands started to shake.
It was only when Miles let out a whimper that I snapped out of my panic. I cleared my throat, " Come on, baby, let's go to work." I said. On my way out I did a double take to make sure I didn't miss anything while cleaning, once I was sure everything was thoroughly clean I grabbed Miles diaper bag and stroller and headed out.
Usually the twins were here to walk me to work but they never showed up. They were usually here by seven in the morning but now it's almost eight thirty and there's still no sign of them. If I wait any longer I'm going to end up missing my meeting. I spent the day holed up in my office. The day was packed with meetings with people from all over the world, thankfully Miles slept almost the entire day. I'm not surprised though, he was up most of last night.
