Caspian's pov- ( Two weeks ago)
" Did she eat?" I asked as Carson walked into my office. Normally I would've stayed with Carter to make sure she actually eats but I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable. " Yeah." he said, taking a seat on the couch, next to Casper. " Are you going to tell us why you called us here?" Callum asked, impatiently tapping his foot against the floor.
After I had kicked everyone out I sent a group text telling them to meet me in my office. " We need to talk about Carter and Miles. I got word from Colton today that these were delivered to our office building today." I said, tossing an envelope on the desk. Callum looked at me before hesitantly reaching out and taking the envelope. I watched as his face fell.
Earlier today I got the call that an anonymous package was delivered. When I finally opened it I saw pictures of Miles and Carter. Pictures of them in the house, walking around the city, in her office. Someone was watching her at all times. There was also a threatening note inside. It listed all of the vile things they were going to do to Carter and Miles before they killed them.
" Do we know who it's from?" Casper asked as he looked at the letter. I shook my head, " We caught someone delivering it, Knox is trying to identify them now." I said, my jaw tightening at the fact some fucker had the audacity to threaten my baby sister and nephew. I hate that we don't know who it is. If we knew who it was we could go out now and kill the sons of bitches.
" What do we do?" Carson asked nervously. I know he's worried about Carter and Miles getting hurt, we all are but I won't let that happen. I'd give my life for any of my siblings. " We keep looking till we find him and then we kill him." I answered. " But what about Carter and Miles? Someone is watching them constantly." Callum interjected and he was right.
The only reason they're targeting Miles and Carter is because they know how much we care about them. We need to throw them off. " We need to distance ourselves from Carter and Miles until we catch whoever is after them. The more they think we care the more they're going to try and hurt them. Carter can not know about this, it'll only scare her and that's the last thing she needs." I stated firmly.
As much as it was going to suck I'm going to do what I have to do to protect Carter and Miles. She's been avoiding us lately so hopefully she won't even be able to tell we're distancing ourselves. I don't want her to think we don't want her anymore or something like that. I just don't want her to blame herself if she does notice our absence. Hopefully we'll be able to catch this asshole soon.
" We can't do that. After everything that's happened the past week, she's going to think we're avoiding her because of what happened to her. If we telling her what's going on she'll understand, and she'll be able to become more aware of her surroundings." Casper argued. He had a point and he knew it but my mind was already made up. The last thing Carter needs is more stress.
" I'm sorry, Casper but no. Carter is not too know, do you understand me?" I asked in a strict tone that made me feel like a dick. He glared at me before getting up and storming out of the room. " Follow him." I said to Carson, who got up and went after Casper. Once they were gone I let my head fall into my hands, " Am I doing the wrong thing, Cal?" I asked exasperated.
" I don't know, I hope not. You're my brother and I trust you. If you say it's best not to tell her I'll agree. I just hope you're right." he said before leaving my office, closing the door behind him. Fuck, I hope I'm right too.
Two weeks later~
" I found him." Knox said over the phone. " Who?" I asked impatiently as I texted the boys to come down to my office. " It was Salem Noor and his brothers. You sold guns to a rival gang of theirs and when they went to war they found themselves out gunned. Their father was killed and they're blaming you." he informed me.
