"Idiot." I glared at Finx who keeps shaking the little girl's hands up and down.
All my life, ito pa lang yata ang unang beses na namroblema ako nang ganito.
How could I explain to my family that I brought Daphney home?
Who is Daphney? It's the little girl's name. Before I continued this scene, let me give you a glimpse of what happened earlier at the noodle house.
After hearing the explosion, we evacuated using Finx's car. Panicks on our faces were nowhere to be seen. Why? Major factor: it rained. As far as I remember, the explosion showed an orange smoke — which indicates that it was due to plastic explosives. The moderate rain turned to a heavy one which made the fire gone before we even get lost the sight of the noodle house as the car keeps going.
Our road trip went well. Hindi naging tahimik ang biyahe dahil sa ingay at tawa ng dalawang taong kasama ko sa loob ng kotse. Who are they? Obviously, it was Finx and the kid. Finx keeps singing nursery rhymes which made the kid sing along. Ang malala pa, kinakanta 'yon ni Finx sa boses na pambata. Even me, whom trying to be serious, didn't have a chance to hold my laugh. Siguro lalo na kung kasama namin si Harold.
Setting that scenarios aside, you probably have some questions running in your mind right now, specifically:
(1) Why did we bring that little kid along?
(2) Was the file we opened really tend to send us to pick up that kid? Or it's more accurate to say, to rescue that kid? And;
(3) How the hell did we get Daphney's name?
Let's start with number 3.
We are about to reach the first town of Sininta, Inione, after passing its boundary (Himeyo - Sininta) when Finx's decided to call for a back-up. We ran out of gas that made him cussed for three times, thus making himself get three deadly glares from me while covering Daphney's ears.
Two news: good and bad. Good news? Napakalakas ng signal kahit nasa gitna lang kami ng kalsada. I could have continued watching the series on the Netflix I've started while waiting for Finx's sign, kidding. Bad news? No gas stations nearby. Hindi ko kabisado ang pasikot sikot dito that's why I decided to browse in Google Maps. And just like what Finx's said, wala talagang malapit na gas station. Do'n niya inumpisahang tawagan ang isa sa mga driver nila sa bahay. Yes, 'isa sa mga driver'. You know what I meant. At first, I thought it was Kuya Boleng but I remembered that he's their gardener, not a driver.
Finx was in the middle of the call when his facial reaction changed into a doubtful one. That happened when he was reaching for something on the backseat while his phone was on his shoulder. Paulit ulit siyang bumalik sa posisyong animo'y may kinukuha sa backseat, at posisyong babalik sa driver seat. I asked him why but he didn't answer. He ended the call and gave me an okay sign, meaning that their driver will come.
Out of nowhere, after heaving a deep sigh, Finx get his small knife from his pocket. I made a curious look but he didn't mind it. He invited Daphney to play Hide and Seek — I don't know what he's up to — at sinabing si Daphney ang taya, kaya pinapakit niya ito ng mata.
