"SORRY, KLEEVE! Aksidenteng natanggal 'yung dextrose nung pasiyente ko, eh. Mauna ka na kaya?"
I snapped back to myself the moment I heard her voice. I looked up and met Fomei's worried yet still gorgeous face. Tumayo ako at inayos ang nalukot kong uniform.
"No. Hihintayin kita." I smiled a bit.
"Haaay! Bahala ka," she scratched her cheek and grinned. ". . . pa'no? Puntahan ko na 'yung pasiyente ko." she motioned her hand and went to that patient's room.
I smiled and watched her disappeared as my eyes slowly closed.
I'm not here to fetch Fomei for a romantic date or what.
We're going to a wake.
I yawned and slightly pinched my pulse. Halos wala akong tulog kagabi dahil sa nangyari, dagdag pa ang magdamag na pag-iyak ni Daphney due to her vaccine.
Aich. I'm so sleepy.
What happened yesterday in the city jail was surely strange.
Out of sudden, I was told to transfer to city jail from the police station to testify. It was approximately half kilometer away in distance. Mayroon din kasing area roon kung saan puwede akong magbigay ng statement. I didn't bother to asked why and just did my thing.
Then a succeeding sound of ambulances' sirens caught my attention. They were all heading to the police station where I left.
The phone call from a police officer finally gave me a clue on what happened.
"Chief! Nalason daw po si Gordon Galvez — "
"Nalason ba kamo!?"
" — at may mga nakita pong hidden camera at listening devices sa bawat area ng station!"
I closed my eyes and sighed deeply as that conversation played inside my mind.
I tried to contact Finx as soon as possible. However, his cellphone is off. I asked our friends and his acquaintances and even Lola Frankestina but I got nothing. Hindi rin daw umuwi si Finx simula pa nung isang araw.
And that's what bothering me the most. Finx is nowhere to be found.
Sinubukan ko ring contact-in si CEO Cynthia at maging ang sekretarya nito na si Ms. Gonzaga. But, as expected, they also have no idea where Finx is.
The whereabouts of their gardener, Kuya Boleng, is also nowhere to be found. Therefore I conclude one thing: their sudden disappearance has something to do with the incident at the police station.
I'm not suspecting them as the culprit, of course.
I was told by Melai that a friend of her said something. I think it was Porscha since she has already transferred to Mendeleev High as an exchange student. Porscha saw Finx walking inside the station yesterday since she happened to came along with his brother for something. Nailarawan pa niya ang suot at mood nito habang naglalakad palabas. He's not in his usual self, according to her.
That gave me the urge to talk to Officer Thymn.
I asked for a copy of CCTV footage of the whole premises of the police station. I can't believed he literally gave it to me without any hesitation.
Tanging sa visitation area lang hindi nahagip ng CCTV si Finx. That's the oddest thing here. Should Finx visit the station, the only reason would be is paying a visit to his Ninong Gord.
