Maybe we can fix each other

Prologue ༄

Penelope Featherington was a well known actor for her many roles. She had been a child actor and built her acting career from there. She met Jordan when she was fifteen and they had been close friends for a long time before they started dating. Jordan wasn't nearly as well known as Penelope, and that caused issues with Jordan. He didn't like that he never just got his girlfriend to himself. And Penelope could never explain it to him.

But they made it work. Everything was going great, until it wasn't. Both of them had started to feel a disconnection for a few months now. But neither of them said anything.

Penelope still loved Jordan. But Jordan didn't love her anymore. And that's where the problem started.

Being on a Talk show was something that was unexpected to Jordan. But recently Jordan was announced to be in a reality show. It was some sort of "match maker" show. Penelope wasn't mad about it though. Most of those shows are fake and she knew it. They had asked Penelope to be there with Jordan as well though.

The day they got there everything seemed fine. The interview started and it was questions about Jordan being in the show. Then it got to Penelope.

"So Penelope what are you most proud of Jordan for?" the host asks

"Definitely this!" Penelope answered cheerfully, she looks towards him. His hand in hers "he's come a long way but I always knew he would make it"

"You guys really do love each other" the host says

"Not really" Jordan mumbles

But everyone heard. Penelope looked at him. Was he joking? Or did he really just say that? Penelope let go of his hand, tears starting to build in her eyes. She felt like she couldn't move. She felt frozen. But she did move. She stood up and walked off the stage. And Jordan didn't go after her. Didn't try to apologize. He just sat there.

Once the two got home, Penelope looked at him.

"Why would you do that?" Penelope asks

Jordan is silent. He stood still.

"Of course you're not fucking talking" Penelope says as she turns around ready to leave the apartment

"What do you want me to say?" Jordan asks

"Explain yourself! Jordan we were on live tv and you go and say that? What the hell Jordan. I get it if you were falling out of love with me or whatever but why didn't you tell me?" Penelope looked towards him, and she hated it because there's a part of her that can't hate him

"I just didn't want to tell you" Jordan mumbles

"So you go and tell the whole world before me" Penelope replied to him

"That's not what I meant- that's not how I wanted to do things" Jordan says

"Well you did. And there's nothing that can fix it. It's all over social media and now we're the center of attention" Penelope looks down at her shoes, she had nothing else to say "do you have anything to say?"

She was hoping he would apologize. It's the least he could do right? Or tell her she didn't do anything wrong, it just wasn't working out.

But he didn't. He didn't say anything.

"Fuck you Jordan" Penelope whispers before leaving the apartment

Colin Bridgerton had been with his sister, Eloise to be exact, when he found out. His girlfriend Nessa lived in New York. And they had meet when he was visiting and had been dating for about a year now.

They were in Eloise's apartment when it broke out. It started with one picture and lead to multiple others. Colin didn't know how to react. He just looked at his phone, shocked that his girlfriend actually did this to him. He wished it was a dream. But when Eloise wrapped her arms around him, he knew it was real. And he broke down. He broke down in her arms as Eloise comforted him as best as she could.

Colin was never one to fall in love but this hurt. He never got attached to people because he was in the spot light, he knew he would get hurt if he did. And he wasn't attached to her but he cared for her deeply. But there's nothing he can do about it.

Right when he started to calm down, there was a knock on Eloise's door. Eloise stood up to answer it and she saw Penelope standing there with a tear stained face. Penelope then saw Colin.

The two had met once. But it was brief. And wasn't a full introduction between the two.

"I'm sorry el, I'll go" Penelope started to leave but Eloise stopped her

"Don't. Come in" Eloise grabbed her hand and pulled her inside with her

Penelope let both of them know what was happening. She felt weird spilling everything out with Colin there but she really needed someone. And even though she hardly knew Colin, she trusted him.

Both Colin and Penelope were finding comfort in each other at the moment.

When they walked out of Eloise's apartment, they started talking more.

"I'm sorry about what happened to you" Penelope says

"I'm sorry about what happened to you. I hope you know your ex is a jerk" Colin replied

Penelope lightly giggled before replying, "I know."

"You didn't deserve that" Colin says

"You didn't either. You're a great person" Penelope smiles

"Thank you. So are you" Colin smiled back

Neither of them had smiled all night, but this one was genuine. There was something about the other that made them feel happy. And happy was a feeling that wasn't felt today. The two didn't know it but this was just the beginning. Of what? They don't know. But it's just the beginning.
