"I am breaking up with you because I love you!"

But before we get to that, let's take it back a few days when she realized.
Penelope had been realizing for the past few weeks that she might be feeling more for Colin. She always liked him, but she couldn't be falling in love. Not with him.
Colin had been very open about how he doesn't get attached to people. And so with that, Penelope knew he would never fall in love. And yes, part of that hurt but she was so deep into the relationship with him that she let it pass.
Now she was falling in love with him and she didn't know what to do. She thought about it for days on days. When she finally realized what to do, it broke her. But she had to do this.
"Hey," Colin smiled brightly once he opened his apartment door to see her standing there.
"Hi," Penelope smiled back, "Can we talk, Colin?"
"Sure," Colin replied as he let her in.
The two sat on his couch and Penelope looked at him. She didn't know how to say this, so it just rushed out, "I think we need to break up."
Colin was silent.
"Actually I don't think, I know." Penelope felt the tears building up in her eyes, "I'm so sorry, Colin."
"Why?" Colin asks.
Penelope doesn't want to tell him. Because how could she? She couldn't tell him why, because then he'd know that she loved him. And she didn't want him to know that.
"Why, Penelope? Why are you doing this," Colin asks.
"I have my reasons." Penelope replies quietly.
"And what are your reasons, Penelope?" Colin asks
"I'm doing this for you, Colin! Okay? I am doing this for your good." Penelope answered him.
"How is this for my own good, Penelope? I don't want or wish for you to break up with me! How is this for my own good, Penelope? Tell me because I don't understand." Colin wanted to know. He didn't get any of this and if anything he deserved an explanation on why she was doing this.
"I am breaking up with you because I love you!" Penelope yelled it out. And she didn't mean to but it just happened, "Gosh, Colin I love you and that's why I'm ending this. Because I know for a fact that you won't fall in love with me and I don't want that."
Colin doesn't know what to say to her. Because he didn't expect that. He had plenty of other situations in his head but not this.
Penelope had tears in her eyes and Colin walked closer to her, pulling her into a hug. Penelope was distant at first before wrapping her arms around his waist. Despite this being their break up she still melted into his embrace. She just couldn't control it. But the minute she let go, she remembered everything.
"I have to go," Penelope whispers as she grabs her sweater and starts to walk out the door.
"Don't," Colin had gently grabbed her wrist and Penelope looked towards him, "Don't."
He pulled her closer and kissed her deeply. Penelope didn't even try to break herself out of this one. She just kissed him back with just as much passion, possibly even more.
Everything around them was slowly fading away. Colin closed the door behind her and she placed her sweater back on the edge of the couch. Colin pulled apart from her to lead her to his room.
Once in his room he had Penelope sit on his bed as he hovered over her, kissing her neck softly. Penelope's hands traveled to the back of his head, her fingers in his hair. Colin started to undo the buttons on Penelope's shirt before he stopped himself.
"Is this okay?" Colin asks
Penelope nods as she brings his lips back to hers. With her consent, he pushed her shirt off over her shoulders. Penelope pulled his shirt over his head before Colin pulled her into another kiss.
Penelope knew where they were going, and she didn't know how she's supposed to stop being in love with him after this.
A/N that changed fast 😃
