Chapter four | facing it

Now Nessa was a different story. Compared to Jordan she was very quiet about Colin. She never brought him up, but she wasn't hiding her new relationship either.

And that wasn't even the worst part. Colin and Penelope had to go to New York in a few days to do some press stuff and that wasn't fun but he also knew Nessa would be nearby.

It was the most nerve racking thing since the breakup with her. He doesn't know how it'll be if he does actually face Nessa. And he'll be with his girlfriend too.

Well it wasn't in his favor cause the minute they got there he saw Nessa. And she wasn't alone either.

"Colin." Nessa said, it seemed like she was upset with him?

"Nessa." Colin replied.

"You must be Colin's girlfriend," Nessa says towards Penelope, "Nice to meet you."

Penelope just smiled. She was polite, but she wouldn't tell the biggest lie in her life by saying it back.

"Can I talk with you, privately?" Nessa nods towards Colin.

Colin nodded lightly. Nessa's boyfriend walked away but Penelope didn't leave yet.

"Just nod to me if you need me, okay?" Penelope whispered in his ear.

Colin nodded and smiled at her. Colin leaned in and pressed a kiss to her lips before Penelope walked to a bench nearby.

"What did you want to talk about?" Colin asked Nessa.

"I'm sorry, Colin." Nessa said, taking a step closer to him, "I'm sorry for what I did."

"Are you really sorry though?" Colin asked.

"I am." Nessa says but Colin wasn't believing it.

"If you were so sorry why didn't you reach out? Why didn't you call me when the news first came out? Why didn't you explain it to me? Explain why you did what you did? Cause instead I broke up with you and you never answered. So are you really that sorry?" Colin just let all his questions come out. He had so many and he wanted them answered. He didn't care that his words didn't make sense to him.

"I wanted to give you space." Nessa replied quickly.

"Give me space? Not saying anything wasn't helping either though. You at least could've replied." Colin felt all the emotions rushing back.

"I didn't want to get into an argument with you! I just wanted to give you the space you needed. I knew it would've been hard for you." Nessa replied to him.

Colin just shook his head lightly. He made eye contact with Penelope to let her know that he wanted to leave. She got the hint quickly and got up to go stand with her boyfriend.

"Now if you don't mind, I'll be leaving." Colin said as he put his arm around Penelope's shoulder, starting to walk away.

"Are you okay?" Penelope whispers to him once Nessa is out of reach.

Colin just breathed in and nodded slightly. Penelope interlocked her fingers with the hand around her shoulder and set a light kiss to it.

"We'll be okay." Penelope whispered.

Colin smiled at her. No matter what both of them went through they would always comfort each other.

"You know you're my favorite person." Colin smiled down to her.

"Huh, really? I would've never guessed," Penelope giggles slightly.

Colin smiles as he pulls her closer and presses a kiss to her lips. Penelope smiles as she presses another kiss to his lips.

"You are really special to me though. You know that, right?" Penelope smiles

"I am? I'm shocked," Colin laughs lightly as Penelope smiles at his remark.

He always did this. And she didn't want to admit, or even notice it enough to admit it, but Penelope was falling in love with him. And it was something that would affect both of them.
