Maybe we can fix each other

Chapter thirteen | the entertainment of things

For Colin it would be easy for him to keep working. For Penelope it wouldn't. Not only was she just casted in a show but the characters were teenagers. You couldn't have a pregnant actress playing a teenager if she was showing. And that was Penelope's greatest fear.

"Pen how are you going to tell the executives?" Colin asks.

The two had been hanging around each other a lot more since Penelope told him she was pregnant. He wanted to make sure she was okay and had everything she needed. And Penelope was slowly opening back up to the possibility that he wasn't lying. But not completely.

"I have no idea. I never told them why I was taking fucking four days off so I'm gonna have to explain something," Penelope replied.

"Well take it slow tomorrow. And call me if you need me," Colin smiled.

"Would you mind actually coming along with me?" Penelope asks, "I know you might be busy but I still thought I should ask."

"Of course I'll go with you. Whatever makes you feel comfortable," Colin replies.

The next day Penelope had never been more anxious. She had to tell producers and her show runner that she was pregnant. And she didn't know what to do.

She sat down with all of them cause it would probably be easier to tell all of them at once, right?

"Penelope," Jennifer smiles at her.

"Hi," Penelope replies quietly.

Penelope looks at Colin as everyone is waiting for her to speak. The actors were also in the room just because Penelope knew they would be happy for her and Penelope didn't want hate all around.

"So I'm sorry that I was out for a minute. I was just...um trying to figure my whole situation out," Penelope says.

"And what is this situation?" Jennifer asks but not in a rude way. Just in a way where she was worried about her.

"I'm, um, I'm pregnant," Penelope says.

Vanessa and Veronica smiled widely at her. But didn't say anything as they knew she was waiting for Jennifer's answer.

When the words came out of Penelope's mouth, Jennifer's face dropped. Penelope knew it wouldn't be a good reaction. But she didn't expect that.

However, Thomas looked the most upset. But didn't say anything as Jennifer started talking.

"Penelope, how far along are you?" Jennifer asked.

"I don't really know. But not long," Penelope said as she felt Colin's hand grasp hers under the table.

"So you'll be about six months by the end of filming?" Jennifer asked.

"Yeah, most likely," Penelope replied.

"Okay," Jennifer sighs, "We'll have you film but your scenes will be cut. You won't have nearly as many. And depending on if we get renewed for a season two and when we would go back to filming you might be cut out of season two."

Penelope felt her heart break a little at that. She was really excited about this project and it sucked that she could be losing it because of a pregnancy. But she nodded nonetheless because she knew something like this would happen.

Colin and Penelope walked out of the room and Penelope tried her best to not burst into tears.

"Hey, it's okay," Colin whispers, hugging her close.

They weren't in the car but Penelope couldn't hold it in anymore. She silently broke down in Colin's arms.

"I'm sorry," Colin whispered.

"It's not your fault," Penelope whispered back.

"Technically it is," Colin smiles, causing Penelope to giggle lightly.

"But it's not. You didn't know I was going to get pregnant or that this would happen," Penelope replies, pulling her head up from his chest and looking in his eyes, "Please don't blame yourself for this. It's my fault just as much as it is yours."

Colin smiles and lifts her chin slightly to look at her more clearly.

"It'll be okay, promise," Colin whispers, planting a kiss on her cheek.

Penelope smiled before she lightly pecked his lips in return.

They've been affectionate towards one another since they knew Penelope was pregnant. But they hadn't kissed since their last one.

She started to accept that maybe Colin did love her. She was still skeptical but she was opening up to it more. And Colin was very glad of that.
